View Full Version : Blurred Textures
NineBreaker 03-19-2008, 10:25 AM Ok I did a 3d Model of my own head/neck area, I did my face map from photos of myself, I bring it into maya, than use a Cylinderial uvmap and move verts around but when i render it seems that the texture of the facemap is very blurred. Im not sure what is wrong, my facemap is 2048 x 1615 and is high quality but when applied to the model and rendered it seems very blurred and seems like the color is lost, what can I do to fix this problem ? This is my first attempt at facemapping. I had to bring the size + quality down to attach to the forums :P but when I normally use this its 2048 x 1615 or i use 2048 x 2048 and as a tga file.
Just let me know am I going about this the wrong way.

does it look like they are all stretched around or just blurred?

i use a program called roadkill uv (it's free... google it) to make sure that the faces don't have any stretching... if that's the problem. you just turn on 'show stretch' in the textures tab.
if it's blurring, and only blurring... i would definitely check your render settings... can you also post a pic of your uv layout? 512x512 px...

have you tried changing any of the filtering settings in the attribute editor (maybe mipmap)?
you can also try changing the AA sampling to get a sharper render...
