rizob 05-07-2003, 06:14 PM all right, here is alittle concept for Blur, the concept is by Sean McNally, i hope i can live up to sean and blurs standards. as you can see i have just started texturing. i have not really jumped into texturing realm so this will be a great exercize to get the skills up. so please drop those crits. the hair is also just a place holder untill i paint opacity maps. i am going to give myself about a week to finish this. i ll post more info and wires soon.

Look'n fantastic. Really, very impressive modeling.
As the textures are a wip, I'll leave 'em alone.
Kudos, man, really. Nice piece.

nice work, its looks like you have been making a lot of progress. congrats on the front page too.
the textures looks great, but could look even better. the textures seem too procedural and not natural enough. for example, maybe some scuffs on his shoes, faded edges on his "shoulder straps". Maybe even some intersting pic or emblem on his belt buckle.
just my thoughts

btw, email me your phone #, i cant seem to find where i had it written down.

There is just no appeal,no warmth.I know not everything is sweet and funny.:p
I just cannot get a very good feeling on this, maybe because I cannot see the face etc,but still besides this it's done very well,Nice modeling, details, and the textures are coming along nicely. So still a bit off when it comes to a warm feeling you get when you see top notch work with character. But modeling wise etc,it is up there in that regard.Just one guys nit-picks,I quess.
Still a very good job in the end.

Lots of detail, I like it. Cool hair and interesting gun. Legs look a bit thin, but no biggie.

kenter, your right man, only what do you think ishould do, is more the lighting, or textures. not seeing the face does make it tough to relate or understand what type of character he is. this is why i post. please any crits to get me on the right track. thanks

Hi Rizob......To begin with I think you have given true justice to the Blur concept.Almost a spot on duplication, very well done.
As was mentioned above it is true,I too cannot get a true grasp or feeling for this character. While the modeling, and texturing are excellent the "Life" of the character seems to be missing.Don't get me wrong,he sure would be excellent to see running wild in one of the future video games or movies.
The problem here is what leeway do you have? Can you tweak or alter this character,or do you have to stay within the restraints of the concept?
If you are after a near to perfect recreation of the Blur concept you have succeeded perfectly.But...................If you want to give him another option,a second version if you will I have an idea.:airguitar
Perhaps show him/her/it.....with the helmut off.Or with some transparent visor type helmut where you can see some facial features. Another version of this fine creation can only be a plus if you ask me.
But in the end what you do have is intricate in details, does have an original appeal and style. And shows off alot of your talent from modeling to textures to vision, the most important of all.
Well done,I hope to see more from you on this and other projects.

I liked it better with the plant thing at its back than with the hair, shows more like a space hunter in the jungle :)
or something :P
still looks good
I think this is a beautiful design. I can see loads of charcter here.
I think the hair could use some more work. It looks fuller and shorter in length in the concept design, which would give the model more balance.
I also think the textures and color range could use some more work. Just looks a bit too "procedural" at the moment. And maybe if you chose a color scheme that is a little more interesting, and not so brown? Maybe work with some cream colors and maybe spot colors of faded red/orange.

I see no flaws... If I could model that well, and if I was evil, I'd re-produce it and use it in one of my short films... hahaha... But I can't and I'm not.

dude,..firstly this rocks:buttrock: i would change the colour of the fur. black and white looks too dull and it aint tribal enough..pigmy's are supposed to be tribal looking right? add some of those lil arm bands with feathers of some sort sticking out...?

:applause: I really like it, modelling, texturing... everything:bounce:
The only thing i could say is about the hair, i think it shold be shorter, or just not that tall, it looks a bit like a troll http://www.museum-london.org.uk/MOLsite/images/toys/troll.gif
and also hair maybe could be thicker, like plants, or "rastas"(Bob marley's hair, i don't know if that is the word in english...)
I hope you can excuse me for comparing your model with a pink girl's toy:p it's a great model! :buttrock:

Love the look of this one :D
But I hope that the hair is a placeholder. Looks a bit... like a black and white bush.
How about that idea from elmasfeo, some dreadlocks would look a whole lot cooler on this model.
Otherwise... LOVE it. :D
I can imagine him flying around space on a saucerbike... like the one LOBO had :D

Looks cool, but give the hair color more punch, and give us a face to look at,at least partially.Really excellent in most aspects.
