Quote from the article:

"All nine Animatrix short films, set in Larry and Andy Wachowski's Matrix universe, will get a theatrical release in Australia, New Zealand and Japan, a Warner Brothers spokesperson confirmed for SCI FI Wire"

It's too bad, they're showing them at the Egyptian Theatre here in LA as well on May 14th, but it sold out faster than you could even read about it and get your car keys :p

I know -- it's so unfair! I wanna see these shorts on the big screen!!! :)

I'll console myself this weekend with the other cool things screening at the Egyptian -- A Tree of Palme plays at 7PM Friday, a Miyazaki double-feature of Kiki's Delivery Service and Castle in the Sky screens at 9:45PM Friday, and Katsuhiro Otomo's Memories plays at 7:30PM Saturday!!!

Check out the schedule for the Egyptian here:

Here's pages with images and information about A Tree of Palme, which is supposed to be a 2D/3D visual stunner:

...and here's a page where you can download the trailer for Memories, a worthy successor to Otomo's Akira:

I was showing the whole Animatrix (yes, all 9) to my friends earlier this week... It's only on a 36-inch screen, but should I set up more screenings for the rest of you guys? :D

D'oh..I really want to try and make it to the Miyazaki double feature, Laputa is still one of my all time favorites and the recent DVD just rekindled all of that :D Have to see what's going on in mi vida loca and get down there.

Missed the Otomo movie on the schedule altogether! Argh! They're playing too much cool stuff there lately!

P.S. moovieboy - I dunno, do you really want some of us in your house, based on a few of our posts? :D

they'd be pretty darn silly not to show it at chadstone - i think you're on safe grounds there.
