View Full Version : Environment : Tomb Raider Mansion
Abraham 05-07-2003, 05:06 PM Hi, I don't often dare to post in this forum since I'm just an amateur but I also know I won't ever progress if I don't get
critics so here is a little pic :)
Based on Lara Croft's Mansion in the movie Tomb Raider. Modeled and rendered in 3D Studio Max, textures made in Photoshop
Thanks for any comments, positive or negative and also thanks for taking the time to watch :)

Thats not bad at all... the lighting looks a little bright to have the volumetric moonlight and lamps on ( is it night outside?) but i like the detail in your textures

Looking good so far - the model itself is pretty sound. I think I have to agree with illicit about the lighting though - there's something not quite right about it. Unfortunately I'm not a lighting genius so I'm pretty stuck for pinpointing exactly what is wrong, but if you look at the moonlight through the top skylights, then this doesn't really correspond to the light colour you have shining through the stained glass- I know that the stained glass will colour the light a certain way, but the overall colour and intensity compared to the colour and intensity of the light coming through the skylight seem different. Never seen the Tomb Raider film so I can't really comment on the decor.

Thanks a lot for the comments :) I fully agree with you about the lighting, in fact, I didn't really worked on it yet, just more or less finished the modelling of the room and the textruring. I still have to put furnitures in it and then I will try to have it lighted by lamps placed on tables and things like that, the external light will be very dimm. The environnement map will change too, should more be a kind of sky with stars and moon.
:)
