jasonlg3d 05-07-2003, 03:00 PM I am new to Maya I've been a maxer for about 3 years but we are switching to Maya here at school for price reasons. I have been watching the 3dbuzz videos and doing a few tutorials. However I am stuck on this subaru tut. Here are the images of what i'm getting. I am using the BiRail 3+ surface and am selecting the 3 profile curves and the 2 rail curves. Here is a link to the tut.

I know how you feel, I have done this tutorial before. It looks like you do have an equal # of spans on both profile and rail curves, but looking at the image it seems that the CV's on each curve are not quite in line to one another. Try this, select all profile curves and open your rebuild curves option box, set rebuild type to uniform, parameter range to 0 to # Spans, direction to U and V, keep # of span, and degree U and V to three. This should align all your CV's. Birail your surface. It probably will not look exactly like his picture so just duplicate some isoparms and tweek and rebuild with the new isoparms. Sooner or later you will end up with something that is perfect. Good luck.

Also, I forgot to mention, anytime you build or cut curves, make sure tangency set by rebuilding those curves to their same number of spans. Think of it as resetting the curve. This will avoid having problems with tangency and parameterazation later.
