Hi all

I've just finished my first photorealistic human head modelling and texturing project for school and am not really happy with the texturing of it and have spent quite some time playing around in Photoshop repainting the maps and researching techniques on the internet but still am not happy with the results.

I'm studying Maya but have used Lightwave for about 18 months on and off and in some ways prefer it to Maya. I've read Leigh's texturing tutorials over and over and they were a big help but I'm still a bit confused by the whole texturing process.

I was wondering if someone could offer some advice as to how to improve the realism of my head.

In the zip file attachment is a sample render and the relevant colour, bump and specular maps.

Thanks

Paul

I'm not sure how effective painting all this type of stuff is myself, I reckon you might be better getting some really high res photographs (Scan in pages from a fashion magazine perhaps) and then using areas of them for your cheeks, forehead, wrinkles and pores. I don't think painting photorealism is the best way to go - theres simply too much randomness in there to mimic. Use a combination of hand painting broad areas and then using photos for all of the intricate detail.
