Hi everyone,

Code 1: A component of the software license is not available, the program will exit.

has any of you had any error code 1 before? I never had any problems with this but I have it since a month or so now. When I reinstall max, it works again, but after a while it still gives me the error.

Can anyone help me out?

P.S. I have a LEGAL copy of 3Dsmax, so that should not be the issue

erase whatever license u had before...use regedit...maybe that'd work...

and u wont get that error with the illegal copy..lol...caz its the same as the original...just not the # codes..

so try the regedit stuff..whats windows u use?

Or you could just contact Discreet, I'm sure they are more knowlegable then anyone here when it comes to issues with their software.

OK, but which entry should I change in regedit?

BTW, I use XP, but I had the same on W2K

I agree that the first step would be to contact Discreet support. However, assuming that you just want a speedy solution, here's something to try. If you're using the CDilla license (installed by default), try downloading and installing the latest CDilla release without reinstalling Max. You may need to re-authorize afterward. You should be able to find the latest CDilla at support.discreet.com. If you're using the network license, then you'll probably need to go through Discreet to resolve the issue.

If you're not sure which licensing scheme you're using, then it's safe to assume CDilla since you would definitely know if you were using the network license.

Best of luck,
RH
