Title: City night
Name: Laurent Ménabé
Country: France
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop

Hi, this image is a studie of high rise building here in Paris.
I work for UAPS architecture and with my friends at LUXIGON
studio. It's a very politic project but very interesting and it's my first job in the field of architecture. I try to do something very dark with an illustrative approach.

Hope you like.

The texturing on the building is Excellent.
But....As long as Its not a movie.....its arch viz...it should be colorful.I would like to see a colorful image.as long as texturing & perspective & design for the building is very strong, It can turn out a mind blowing image.
But for now it looks like a shot from a location in an animation.
you can go dark but add colors especially to your sky.

You are completly right Maryam, the goal of this image is not to do a classic and
clean architecture rendering but something more illustrative.
Look at Luxigon's portfolio and you'll understand what i mean :

Some of them are really mind blowing!Look at these:
MVRDV - Paris, France - Philharmonic Hall Competition
& REX - Louisville, USA - PanArts Building
Edouard François - Paris, France - Hotel Fouquet's
REX - Louisville, USA - PanArts Building:eek:

I am very glad to see some very different style, very artistic mood & successful.
By the way i think there is no better possibilities to visualize some projects like MVRDV designs!
But do you categorize the range of your clients then?as long as the scheme is higher than the ordinary clients understanding....
How do you cope with this?!

Hi, first off, I really like the overall look of this image, and the lighting looks great.

What strikes me as odd is this big gaping hole in the middle of the image. It's a bit of an optical illusion to me because at first it looks like there should be another building which is black, and it would be partially blocking out the tall building on the right.

But then I look closer, and it is in fact a hole, but the building is just built like a tetris piece, or a reversed "s" of sorts.

I just don't like this hole that's there. It distracts me from the whole image.

salut Laurent.
Good picture man, actually i was curious to know a bit more about your personal stuff, so I went to your website. Cool. in fact, i knew many of the pictures I saw there, but back then, I didn't know they were yours.

I heard you've decided to focus on architecture. Good for you man, espacially since the people you work for seems interresting.
I've had a look at their website too, and I'm pleased to see some people ain't afraid to experiment a bit in this field. Coolcool!
For sure the lourde pluie will miss you man! Keep on having fun like this.

ps: i just miss a blured, defocused glowing foreground in your picture in order to increase the feeling of scale. For the rest, accept my stars.
