View Full Version : How to make Flash Windowless

Hi,

Anybody out there had any tutorial on how to remove the background of Flash windows to make flash movie animate in transparent background (windowless) style??

I know there's a program call IceProjector by Flashants, but I would want to know how to create this effect instead of using plugins.

Hope that someone can help on this.

To make the flash movie transparent, all you need to do is add the words "wmode=transparent" in your embed tag of the HTML... (Assuming you are talking about adding it to a site)

Now, to make it float above other stuff I think you need to add a style information with this: "position:absolute"

Also,

As far as I know, this only works in IE.

yes, it is only IE on the pc

its actually a param you set in the object tag, hence the reason its IE only (its a param of the activx control that netscape doesnt have access to and macs dont have at all)

Actually, I want to create an animate "Virtual Pet" that can run around in the desktop screen with the background transparent.

I know that we can make window transparent under HTML, but I would like to know can we go further to the desktop without to buy expensive plugin to do that.

I'm not sure exactly how, but in our class (uni) this guy did a tutorial on it. It'll be a few days before I get to see it though, so I can't help you yet.

I found a 3rd party software for the windowless Flash, called
mprojector from Binarynoise.

30 days trial, had to purchase...:annoyed:

Hey, nice to hear you found a solution.

I'm sorry I never replied... you would have had to learn how to use director anyway... which is a pretty irritating solution.
