hi
ive made a character in max5 the modifier stack looks like this:
meshsmooth
skinn
mirror
edit mesh.

where should i place the unwrap uvw modifier? i tried to place it betweet mirror and skin, but the meshmsooth modifier messed it up. placing it over meshsmooth makes it hard to modify the texturemap....
can somone please give me a hint or two????
thanks...

Before the meshsmooth, do your basic uv map. after the meshsmooth add another uv map modifier, this one to clean up the smooth, you should still have the basic out lines so just move the points around (this is if you haven't done more than 1 itteration of smothing.)

makkbru,

You have to put the unwrap BEFORE the skin modifier as well, or when you animate your mesh, the textures will distort. In the future you should texture your mesh before you skin it. Make sure you dont weld or delete any verticies. Any change in the order of the verticies will ruin your weighting of the skin modifiier AND your uv mapping coordinates. Good luck.

I would also collapse the stack before skinning. Somitimes the mirror modifier can creating problems with vertex assignments, and that will also cause texturing problems.
