For a second, I thought it was a new Mortal Kombat film

I agree, it promises to deliver a ton of unintentional laughs while I watch sean connery supposedly beat up... anybody. I can't wait for Bea Arthur's turn as a martial arts expert in her next movie.

Saw the new trailer before X-Men 2..looks pretty damn neat to me anyway..mr. hyde looks a lot more interesting than hulk at any rate, connery is a back to form, and the nautilis design is pretty wicked. Of course it COULD suck, but who knows. Regardless it should be fun to see inbetween all the other summer stuff.
The original comics for LXG were really cool, need to dig those up..

Sean Connery? You bet I'll go see it. Looks like a CGI feast.

pretty amazing!
:wip:
I think this trailer has been around for some time! I saw it before for sure. Another great thriller for the money, but in the year of the Matrix everything else will be king "out of focus"
At least the comics where pretty nice, the movie should be awesome too.. Let's wait!

wow, i'm really surprised at the positive feedback this has received. seeing the trailer made me wanna cry. i was somewhat looking forward to this movie but the trailer just looks pitiful to me.

Looks pretty cool, some of the CGI looked pretty questionable though, mainly the invisible man, the surfacing of the submarine, and what I assume is the Dr.Jekyll/Mr. Hyde monster.

that trailer looks allright, i dunno if the movie will be any good, we will see. Speakin about 3d animation in movies, am i the only one who thinks some of the shots outta the new Matrix movie are horible? Mostly the shader on all of the coats, Neo's and that other dudes who can now copy and paste himself. Maybe its just me?

eh, the matrix trailer bad cg stuff looks better on the big screen. sadly, the LXG stuff doesnt.

MosaFacku , None of the shots in the trailer are final , is it so hard for you guys to understand that? Every vfx shot you see there is a WIP shot , I am sure the final shots will look kick ass.

lol first off Dustin_Senos mate - "copy And Paste himself" - LMAO ! lol
and secondly this film looks ****ing great, i read that someone didnt like the shader on the "invisable mans" face, if i have understood you right - i dont think that, that is the shader on his face, i think that someone has just chucked milk or sumthing on his face....

Why on earth did they change Kevin O Neill's design for the Nautilus from the comic?

The movie version just looks dull...

LXG is certainly yet another popcorn-movie. Please, argue about the effects as you all see fit, it's just that as far as I my interests goes it's whether or not the story holds water. The trailer looks to have fine effects to me, **** it if I don't agree with the design of a monster or the way the sub resurfaces. I just hope it'll have a relativly interesting story to tell (ie. anti-spiderman, anti-daredevil, but those are just imo of course).
Oh and the woman, it's Nikita! I've never seen her in anything outside her role in her Cheesy-TV-Series-That-Didnt-Always-Suck series. ..though I fail to see the relevance of me mentioning that :).

what was the "Cheesy-TV-Series-That-Didnt-Always-Suck series." you were chatting about?

Pretty cool, but I think mr Connery should throw in the towel ... Heīs almost 73 years old and itīs beginning to affect his peformance, in my opinion.

I really was hoping for the giant squid..but I'm wondering if there were issues with it being too much a mix of the old disney design. Maybe they felt they couldn't pull it off and keep it cool live action, but there's been more ludicrous stuff made to work 'real'. Oh well..I think the new one has potential, I like the trim on it, but I guess it does look too much like a giant steak knife. :p

I heard that the story is quite different from the comic and is more like an independent story set in alan more's world.
the comics kicked arse.....

The teaser looked a bit disappointing, but the trailer looks very cool. This is one movie I must see this summer. For sure everything takes a backseat to the new Matrix, but this looks like it will be a lot of fun. Looks a lot better than Tomb Raider 2 for sure. And Connery is the coolest.

It looks like The Mummy-kind of fun, with coolness, slam-bang action, and lots of tongue-in-cheek fun stuff.
The CG indeed looks like something out of a game cut-scene, and quite frankly I don't believe they'll be that much better in the final movie. True, it does happen that FX shots are changed from trailer to movie, but they never change from "cheesy" to "superb"... but, of course, the movie still has the benefit of the doubt... we'll just have to wait and see until it's released...
Still, looks fun. The Mummy movies also had cheesy CG, and I love those movies. And if Connery kicks arse like he did in The Rock, I think I'll love this one too.
One thing that worries me, though, is that they've never really explained their concept in any of the trailers... they've never fully explained who these "extraordinary" people are, and that the concept is to bring them together... they just try to sell it as an average action-movie with heroes with supernatural powers, which makes me wonder if the concept works in the movie at all.... :curious: Hummmm. Is it a foreshadowing? Does this movie suck donkey balls? I hope not...
Cheers,
- Jonas

I'd have to agree with jussing, I love the Mummy
I can't wait to see this movie. Sean Connery is better now than he was as the overweight Bond, and the FX for the most part (the sub surfacing was a little... off) look fine. I don't think you can compare any movie to the Matrix Reloaded, it just isn't fair. But LXG might just be the most creative movie this summer
We'll have to wait and see
When Connery first came on the screen with that leather hat and coat, i was like "new indiana jones? it is really happening??"
Only to find out. NO. Bah, i was dissapointed.

Sheep, ok, so some of the shots could be WIP, but I've seen much better WIPs on this site than in that movie. I mean, come on, look at the submarine and how it effects the water.....
Also, I wasn't just commenting about the cg in the movie. I'm talking about the whole look of the film from the teaser....it just flat out looks bad. Thats just my opinion.

the day time shots of 3D assets is still kida crappy. Even the lighting on Hyde at night is quite off. The ship also jumped out screaming " LOOK, IM FAKEEE". I only hope that is their intention, and that it fits the mood of the film. Sometimes this kinda thing works within context.
Same with the Hulk, but to a lesser degree. Hulk, no matter how many people refuse to give it a chance, I think looks great. People are expecting A LOT, but they gotta remember, The compositing wont match 3d and film perfectly yet. The shots that look right on are all fake, or most of it is, anyway. Gotta enjoy things for what they are, but make sure that stuff is not mediocre

This has a very "Mummy" like cheesiness.
I'll go see it anyways...
It doesn't look so good in the 2nd trailer, I think the first one was way better, this one is giving off a "mummy" feel, which is bad imo
I hate those movies ~_~

i liked the trailer, except that there was a guy in there who looked like the incredible hulk and his skin shader didnt match in with the natural environment, it looked more cartoonish like the hulk. What is up with the hype about the Matrix Reloaded?
Person Opinion: if the effects in it dont come out as good as equilibrium then i dont think its gonna be such a big thing. i think equilibrium will probably be the best film for the year, or maybe 2Fast 2Furious.

That way I see it is that it will either be really good and refreshing, or really aweful. If it didn't have Sean in it I probably wouldn't take much notice of it to be honest.

so, never having read the comic books, the movie thus far strikes me as massively confusing and ludicrous. What the hell is supposed to be going on? So...a whole bunch of heros and villians from classic literature are now superhero crime fighters? Sure. whatever blows your horn i guess. I saw the trailer before x-men. That film was pretty decent. And i suppose that if i hadn't followed those comic books for years i fould have been a little bit confused with that film too. Like...if you didn't already know the story you would have totally missed the whole Pheonix stuff going on. Everyone around me had no idea what was happening.
so maybe LXG wont suck balls. but i'm not counting on it. I mean... we all remember the last super hero action movie Mr. Connery was in. The AVENGERS. Talk about a piece of crap. I'm expection this to be of similar calibur. but don't quote me on that.

Well, I've seen it and it looks like it could be cheesy fun. But the effects in that trailer are absolutely terrible. The weakest effects shot in the latest Hulk trailer is light years ahead of the FX in the LXG trailer. How can a film with a budget of 110 million have FX that poor.

The Hulk is looks fantastic, especially since he's not finished yet, and is way better rendered, animated, and lit than that brown thing in the trailer. I'm assuming it was Hyde! Icky!
But, I'll give it a chance. The effects will probably at least get a little better.

pretty cool CG, but it looks like the kind of movie that could make Tomb Raider look worthwhile.
add this one to the "rental" list.

I agree. Looks awesome to me! As does the "HULK" film. I don't understand the harsh crits on the visual effects in these films. They're not perfect, but they're also far from being "bad." Of course, visual effects aren't what makes a movie good or bad. We'll just have to wait and see whether or not it turns out to be worthwhile. I guess we're just used to seeing CGI in films that we're expecting to see ultra-realism. Even Gollum, the pinnacle of CG animation, is not perfect. Just my 2 cents.:)
