Hey nice Car there, but i would like to see no color version or no reflection on the car. Find it would be better to give you comments on it. And maybe if you wanna get better comments put the car in a scene where we can see the car well lite.

OK keep in mind it is still just a shell.
Ok, thanks, now i am seeing it better. :bounce:
Looking at it i can only say that the overall shape is very good, don't seem to have anything warp or misplaced. I like alot, great start and yes i always keep in mind that it was a shell.
Very good Elricmoroe.

Small update. None of the textures or lighting is permanent.
I say, except for the texture, looking great. Its going to be good model when finished.

So what should I do with the shader? Is it too shiny or what? I keep messing with the paint but can not seem to get it right.
I am not really an expert on those but the look for me seem to be like plastic, the best is to look at cars outside see how the light reflect. Just apply your basic red and try reflection a little bit to see what happen, maybe had light to recreate outside or inside show room?

About the paint shader -- turn down the reflection, make your highlights sharper, and add a fresnel effect for the reflection. After than it's all about the environment.

BTW what program are you using?
Here's a couple links to car paint shader advice that I found with a quick google search. They apply to various programs. Don't know if it helps much, but may get you started.

Thanks for the info!
Don't laugh, I'm using Truespace. I can't afford Maya, XSI, MAX, or Lightwave. :(

Ok is this paint any better?
That is starting to be much better but one already pointed out that you should finished your model before getting down with texture. (unless its finish and i need sleep :) ).
Still doing great on that model.:applause:

I was going to be away from my computer and had time to render a few pictures to test some textures so I figured why not. :D I finished the bottom of the car and I'm working on the engine, transmittion and headlights.
ah ok, but i know what you mean, i just told you to finish the car first but i do the same here. (i am ashamed). Nice to know of your update Eric. Post more soon :applause:

Where is the windshield wiper?
elricmoroe
05-17-2003, 03:37 AM
If you look at the pictures of the enzo you can not see any wipers on the car and if someone models them where you can see them then they are wrong. The front windshield wiper is hidden under the hood.

I've seen a ton of pics of Enzo's and have also seen one in person. In person the wiper was not completely tucked under the hood and was visible looking down from eye level. It's a single wiper.

Maybe I'll make one and tuck it slightly under the hood where it can be seen from eye level.
I realy like the model, but you have to work on some details and the texture.
I think it gonna be a great model .

Ok cool car but get rid off this horrible red shiny texture. It really decreases the 'value' of your car. Take a look in the section 'gallry, finished work' . There is another Enzo modeled. Observe that great texture and apply it on your own.
Good luck

I did get rid of it, I was have problems with the paint, all caused by the environment map (which I think I have fixed now). Yes I saw that Enzo, but I don't think I will ever be able to get mine to look that good! Thanks for the feed back.

Looks better, but still not quite there. In the composite the enzo looks like it doesn't quite fit. Maybe if the highlights were less "metallic". What I mean is if they were less red, a little sharper and stood out a little more. Look at the other car in your picture for reference. (BTW what's up with the heart thing?). The tires also look a little washed out. Try to make them more black.
Anyway good progress.

Ok the contest is over and this is what I ended up with. I plan on doing the interior some time later.

Wow Phil, that is amazing work, you really did improved of the model and the rendering. On the scene i find the shadow of the car to be to hard, i would soften it up a bit, less dark. The car and the tire need some more tweaking i think to really look real (if that is what you want).
Congrats.

Phil,
Very impressive model. I just recently obtained trueSpace 6
with the intention of doing cars and you're a real inspiration. I am curious about the tools/technic you used. Polys, Nurbs, SDS
or a combo? Would also love to see a wire if possible. At any rate, great job, you don't need the high priced apps!!

Thanks dg3d, I'm going to be working on the shadows and I want to pick up a plastic model so I can finish the models interior. That way I will be able to make better windows. :)
Thanks silverdog, I used poly and SDS to model the car.
