the movie is really very bad...
and the VFX are, at best, uneven...some nice shots, some nice fur, some terrible comp work...and some astoundingly bad grain/color issues...

i haven't watched the movie yet and... i won't watch it :)
as the two previous (independance day, the day after tomorrow) are flops because the stories are based only around new technologies/CG Effects kind (YES, great effect let's make a movie before anybody else, people will be impressed!), i think this one is not an exception.
on the production focus page, the mammoths look great, but the saber tooth tiger seem to be made with the technology of 10 000 years ago :)... i don't blame the cg crew, but the director.

please don't watch it! it sucks!!! it just have no sense at all!! it's so stupid... the only good thing are mammuts, but nothing else... script ultramegasuper-sucks
Its a very average movie with some good CG(King Kong was better)...
The mammoths were very well done...Sabertooth tiger was not bad either(comes on screen for less than a minute).

i'm looking for some nice cgi effects, i dont care much about the script. ive seen seen bad movies. like van helsing. i wish i would have get my money back on that movie. but the cg there was pretty cool.
ive seen some documentares about the director and his free time and when he is working, this dude really takes his time on the visual part of the movie, working over it times and times again - if he was my boss it would have been a pain in the but- but he does not look at the script if u say it sucs. and this is bad. Most of the directors this days look to escape with some cool effects and a good idea theme of a movie but look at van helsing Dracula - it suck it looked like a clown and not a scarry character, look at The Exorcist (the old one) has a pretty scarry characters without 3d effects.
Anyway i will go today because i need to see the cg, i probably going to be dissapointed like u say about the script. but hey ive cryed at Titanic :D

the saber tooth tiger is less good than the one of the first ICE AGE :)
i can't believe that he is the same director of stargate! we should believe there is who is walking backward...superficial.

Fantastic vfx with epic scale and a genuinely exciting music score that fits just nicely. It also seems to make a slight reference to Roland's previous move Stargate where the evil bastards at the end are concerned...
Come to think of it, if you like the direction, acting etc of Stargate you'll most likely enjoy 10,000 BC as well. Its got some great ideas that never seem to get the chance to grow and a rather silly "just kidding!" ending to the audience where the leading lady is concered. I say its worth a watch if you like semi-fantasy vfx epics and are not expecting Citizen Kane or Gone with the Wind.
Oh, to those who worked on the Mammoths - excellent job! There arent many cg creatures that can trick me into thinking they are real but most of the shots of the ol'hairys did look exactly that. The SaberTooth on the other hand wasnt exactly as convincing as the Mammoths and most shots I could easily tell. Then again, its up there with Aslan from Narnia and still a fantastic effort.
Oh, who was the georgous leading lady?!?

was this made in xsi?
seems the scale is waay off from reality regards the size of the sabre tooth tiger and the huge over scaled mamoths...
i know xsi has no scale/units other than internal units so maybe that could be the reason for the out of proportion cgi...of course if it was maya then it must have been a production desicion to 'go large'
:D
just a bit of fun...don't roast me alive!
edit>>
okay...been having a look on the related sites...seems to be a maya gig...maybe they mislaid the rulers somewhere?

i just got back from the cinema, the movie its great, great story, good scenes, i love the tiger ( i wish it would appear more in the scenes), the problem with this movie is that it leaves unsolved things, like who was the god and how did he looked like? what exactly happend to his father, the great choosen one just leaves all the slaves for a 23 people vilage? if i was him i would have make myself a big harem and forget the blue eyes girl.
Whatever, great movie to watch, i'm just sorry because i went to toilet exactly when the old hunter is killed on the sand hils.
ive seen some bad things in the movie production, at a moment on the mountains the sky is bad streched,
when they go inside the slaves room at night. the camera is pixeled like a 1 mega pixel cellphone video recording.
a tiger tooth could easy eat a human head evin if it is saved by it ( its a beast ).
10. ac humans know how to build maps? and know about math and all kind of stuff? this looks more like a discovery channel story.
Anyway. Its good to watch, so go for it...

I thought the Sabretooth in the water sequence was excellent. The raindrop running down the creatures fur an extra nice touch.
The scale of the Sabretooth was probably weighted more towards myth than reality, personally it didn't bother me that the thing seemed about the size of a horse, it looked cool.
But yeah the film itself was rather ho-hum.
antagonists take girl> (insert cg here) >protagnists get girl back
geee, these complex plots require much brainstorming it seems.
This movie is ...........pig vomit.
I want my 9 bucks back
