Hi guys, first post here on CGTALK/CGSOCIETY. I am currently working on a digital set for a portfolio piece, and I'm running into an issue. I've never really gone this far into box modeling before, and I am having issues taking something from Maya to ZBrush, and I also wonder if its an indication of further problems I might have down the road.

That's what I'm working on currently. When I attempt to take the building from Maya into Zbrush, it states there is a problem with nonstandard polygons, and then the model looks nothing like it did in Maya. If I'm picking up a bad habit modeling here, please let me know, so I can fix it now. Thanks.

Without looking I would suggest...

Be sure to make your model all quad before export...

When your model in imported into ZBrush it comes in ortho view... perhaps look to change view to perspective...

I hope this adresses your concerns :)

Okay, so is a quad consistent of four sided polygons? and do squares count? I don't get it, it looks like all of my faces are square or four sided, yet it still screws up. Quadrangulate doesn't fix the problem either. Some sort of ruleset as far as cutting polygons and general rules would be awesome, if theres a tutorial somewhere with that? Thanks a ton sir.
