WIII - 2D - Kinonato - YVysator
Hi guys, newbie reporting in.

Been planing to joint the war for long time.

So here's my concept.
The character class I plan to enter is Warlord.

The title of my artwork is <the pride of Kouhagan>
Well I do story writing my self (for fun), so here the prince and his tragic kingdom.

Name: Vysator kor Kouhagan
Race: human
Class: Warlord
Artifact Weapon: Amulet "The morning star "

++ what you need to know ++
The character is the last descendant from a royal family which fell from its ruling power over the land because of the war. However the Kouhagan are a clan of human that are born battle feet. Almost as they are born only to battle. To feet their throne, the Kouhagan family learn to enhance their battle ability by surgically implant an Iron beetle lava to their infantry, thus the army of Kouhagsan need no steel plate nor sharp edge in the battlefield. For the larva implanted on their body grant them not only armor but also weapon that hardness may champion mettle works.Efficient attacks could tare mettle craft to bits. The Artifact Weapon he uses is an amulet call "The morning star " is an artifect that could enhance the power of the Iron Beetle.

++ further reading ++
The Kouhagan clan has many secret up their sleeves. Not every descendant in the clan could successfully implant the lava, many lava would die if the carrier reject the implantation. If the implant is to be successful, the lava must survive the implant, not only through the process, but also it must live on in the host.

The Iron Beetle are aggressive creature, when the lava survive the implantation, some case may take over the control over the host body, leaving the host conscious but not in control. However it is a symbiotic relation between the host and the beettle.

The beetle drain nutraien from the host body, if the beetle realized that the host body is not providing the necessary nutrients that it needs, the beetle may take control of the host body, there have never been cases where the beetle would give up the control over the host. so the Kouhagan need to watch over their diet in a serious manner.

The lava implanted in a Kouhagan means an additional organ to the host. It could receive neural spark and react directly to the brain of the host. There for, the host could manipulate shape of the shell to generate weapon like extension. Which is the main reason why the Kouhagan become the perfect battle species.

The Kouhagan are generally human being. Because the environment of their cause of origin, their diet contain higher argentum then any other planet, the blood in their vain are green. Which is one of the reason why the Iron Beetle implantation are possible. Substance that made our blood runs read, iron, substance that made the blood runs blue, copper. not proven but my theory says that argentum makes then runs red.

Sorry too much writing, promise there will be picture soon. Perhaps some changes soon.

I wanted something shell like, but not too organic, I guess this is ok.

Great drawings, Kinonato! I really like where you're going with this. It's hard to say which headpiece I like best - all of the ones with horns have great silhouettes and some unique forms.... I like the one you sketched out, but I also really like the one on the far right second from the top (the one with both a 3/4 view and a side view.) It would be nice to see the bodies taken a bit further: The hears have such extreme silhouettes with their horns, and the bodies have no horns at all, and all basically human outlines. Maybe see what happens when you push that further.
Good luck!

ooh, that's definitely along my tastes! :)
The head dsign is great and the whole character gives a Guyver vibe which is coo!
Looking forward!

wow totally cool guy! :D great idea with the insect exoskel look and that beetlehornlike stuff and wingy things! looking really cool and original.

about shoulder and hips, perhaps break the mainstream trend of bulky pads and stuff? maybe a more streamlined solution? if you avoid bulky typical knight:ish or spacemarine:ish shoulderpads the elegant stuff like the style given by the protruding stuff like wings and horns would be more dominant.. I vote for close-to-anatomy shoulder and hip solutions (but no CLAMP-like straight thin hips.. men with broad hips (atleast at mouscles under waist) are sexy!)
ps: protruding stuff from shoulders and/or hips seems cool too though... but I vote for something integral to his body if so.. so.. not something you dress up in..
well those are my silly ideas :)

hope to see more! :) great ideas, keep it up!

Gorgeous stuff here, mister. A definite Gyuver/Devilman thing happening, but unique enough not to come across as just a variation of either. You found a solid balance between elegance and badass that a lot of designs try for (and fail). I'm especially glad your final design seems to fit with erik_j's advice and goes for something sleek, rather than this suffocating trend of already bulky dudes burried in thick armor.

Are those the final colours you're going with too? It might be a bit stronger if you bring a little more into that flat grey. Even just a little tonal variation will make all those little details you've worked so hard on a bit more noticable.

Now that is freaky. The concept, in therms of design, however seems to be closer to sci fi than to medieval fantasy. Are you sure its compatible with the rules?

Wow! Really kool character design you have there :) It seems both agile and at the same time well protected.

First of , thank you for running thought my thread.
About the flat grey, yes I was trying to “un-flat” it, difficult but still trying, thanks for the crit.

to : emorhconoM
I guess medieval dose not discriminate odd shape does it??, Just my point of view, anyway thank you for your concern, I was worried at first, well then again, I might lose the competition, if so well my idea spoken, which is more then enough; if I win, may be you will see a screenful of black\ dark buggy units crawling across the screen:) wish me luck. I’m sure I’ll be needing it.

to : evryone thanks for the support :)

be updating this thread later this evening :)

uuh! I like that grey scale and green light texture , I think the design doesnt need more color for the complexity of his layers , great concept! all the poses look dynamic but the spare sword type it's not easy to read the full power it has ... so maybe push more the action on it, only a sugestion you are going to finish very well I can tell ! Congratulations!

ok the artifact my character posess are more to Jewllry, then weapon, but i think it could only be shown in the concept sheet rather in the final. its an amulet and a palm Jewl, hope things could tourn out well :)

some back ground element, as the story happend after a very mordent age, some left over of the previoused develpoement is needed.

Hey AxelAlonso! thanks for checking in :) appreciats it, by the way i saw your character, alsome. very original, and difficult,(as in if we have to model it in 3D), I like it, a little suggestion, may b some particles of jelly fish and add a grate presentation to it.about the post, :P i did try posing it with the hand out, but then took out too much space.:P best of luck, for the both of us.

MartinNielsen

Nice nice  One thing you should avoid, is making your character look mechanical, which is not allowed. When take a quick look at it, I could be fooled to think is was some kind of high tech suit. Just a note :)

Hi Kinonato,

That Arch its Fantastic, love the pose and the power that it's about to blow! Very well done! The sketch it’s also great! the colors are going well, the green glows are expressing well over the texture, I will suggest some pink high light in the reverse side of your main light source, could be from dead robot lights or something like that just to do some drama over all the green , then again just a suggestion haha!:wip:

Thanks for the feedback, I will sure play with the jellyfish texture more on her, and yes I think fun will be already the best part of this war! Thanks for the watch!;)

..you need some cleaning to do? please come to my room! D:
j/k x¨) neat sheet! I like your concept loads! it would be totally awesome as player character in a game :) hope you get a job in the industry!
I can imagine the oldschool japanese otaku would love a character such as this given the traditional popularity with insect-guised heroes and the sport of beatle fights :P
good luck in compo!!
