Help experience animators,

I’m animating character with a tail. I’ve done the extreme poses. When should I start posing the tail?

Should it be done at the same time as the extreme poses?
Wait 5 frames after the main key frames, then pose the tail?
Or should I wait till the body has been fully animated?

I think tail is like a secondary animation for a character so you should animate it in the last when ur body animation is complete.
but for the time being u can roughly pose the tail just to visualize the look for ur animation.

thanks. Is that the way it's done by animators in the company you work for?

I believe it is best to leave it till last because if you change something in the animation then you will have to redo the tail. I think that Avdoot is right to say that you can do it ruff first just to get an idea of the final look.

Animation is an creative thing, u need to knw ur character before animating it and it is the way any animator works, its different every time.
and the way i told u is not like my comapany's animators doing it, its like i felt that it would be easy for any animator to work in phases else u can go straight ahead if u feel u can do it that way, u just need to focus on ur end result do it either way, its up to u.:)
