I'm using Unity's game engine to import a mesh that will be used as a terrain. They currently have a terrain engine, except that it only supports directional lights and currently has no real time shadow capabilities.
What I'd like to do is build the entire level with static objects in XSI, and import it into the engine. Is it possible to have XSI create the lightmaps for the entire level that I can use? If so, how would I go about this?
Also does anyone have some links about lightmapping and the technology behind it? I dont quite get how it creates the lightmap textures, especially if you have objects within the scene such as tunnels or overlapping items. Does it create multiple lightmaps that I'll need to import? Will I have to assign each lightmap to each mesh?
Thanks!
