Hi this is a character that Im currently working on, The most time spend on him are his textures. Im trying to really make his skin realistic, its getting there but suggestions would be more helpful.

there are some things you should consider:
- skin has got various shades of it's color
- there are some dots an d stuff on it
- it's not as shiny as in your picture
- it's tranclucent (->subsurface scattering, it can be faked with smart shader and lights setup...)

firstly, let me praise you for kicking the science! :buttrock: zatoichi? right on! :thumbsup: why didn't i think of that? :banghead:

ok... back to business here. first off, his eyes look very odd. if you were going for the way he looked in the old movies, his eyes were always pretty squinty due to his blindness. but your eyes are looking rather large & surprised. also his face looks very narrow & there's some other issues with his lips & ears. are you using reference shots of shintaro katsu?

also too, this may be something you're still in the process of fixing (or may've already fixed) but why is his neck green at the bottom of the close up? just looks very odd.

oh well, sorry to sound like such a downer there! i'm really glad to see someone modeling zatoichi! keep it up!

Well I actually have a newer render of Ichis face now, I made his eyes open for now because I though it would be easier to animate him with some flexibility on his eyelids. Im currently working on widening his face because yeah like you said its to narrow. Yeah i also have a reference pic of his face, only one but its a good one. And lol that green on his neck is now fixed, i forgot that i had another texture seaping through but it all good now. Well thats cool man i didnt think anyone would know who Zatoichi was but hell, I guess I was wrong

First of all, get some photo ref dosent look anything like him. more japanese asian look. he dosent have blue eyes.
