View Full Version : Image based particles?
BonFire 05-06-2003, 07:01 PM Hi everyone,
I'm pretty new to A:M, so I'm still learning about what it can do. I recently saw a cool fire and smoke animation made with a PC product called Particle Illusion. I was wondering if Master could do something similar. I've got lots of ideas of how I'd like to use something like that.
PS - I have version 10.0m.
Thanks in advance.

It works very much like Illusion, When you make a new material you change the attribute to particle>sprite.
If you are familiar with tweaking the illusion sprites, you should get the hang of it in A:M without much trouble.

I entered the 'particle sprites' contest last year that Hash Inc ran, and happily won it with a piece that involved a fire and explosions that I completely created in A:M v9.0.

Particle sprites are enourmously powerful at creating all sorts of stuff. On a thread last year on the list it was mentioned that the Balrog fire in LOTR part 1 and Part 2 was created using particle sprites. A:M has that particular feature!

Hi there,
How do you change the Rate of emission in a Streak emitter along time?

I think it would be fun to re-create the LOTR balrog using A:M! I think I want to put that on my "to do" list:buttrock:

Wow, this is a feature I can really use. Now I wish I had a Jar-jar model that I could set on fire :-). Imagine the possibilities!
Thanks everyone!

hey, don't let me stop you! Morgoth, the original dark lord, had an entire army of balrogs!!! So certainly there is a need for lots of variations...And don't forget the AD&D "Pit Fiend", or "Diablo" There are lots of flaming devils and Efreeti that would be good examples for spriticles!

I saw this on the mailing list first, but thought I'd reply here. That head is simply awesome! I can't wait to see it wreathed in flames -- along with a body, of course :).
