Hi!

Need some advice ona tool please.
Been searching the forum but there is too much information on animation packages (to animate characters and stuff) but none on what I want.

I am doing a small animation with PovRay, that doesn't have the ability to output to animation formats. So I have to render all the frames to image files, and then create the movie from them.

My question is: do you know any good free tool to create a DivX movie from the stills?
I would like to be able to create DivX files instead of mpeg or mov, because I've seen the great quality of DivX related to the "small" file size, so if you know a good tool please let me know.

Thank you.

Best regards.

try videomach its a 30 day trial and its just the sort of software you are looking for.

it creates from a sequence of jpg's or bmp's a video - you can also include some music.

As far as I know, you should be able to do this with virtualdub,
at least as long as you're running windows :)
You can get it from http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net
Just render to bmp and open them up,and then set the compression codec in the video compression settings.
(Ctrl-C) and press F7 to save as avi.
It's also great for muxing audio and video, which is what I tend to use it for.
If you want to use VBR MP3 for the audio tho, you'll need to get nandub.
Hope that helps some...

Thank you very much dAfTiE :applause:

I have downloaded and installed Virtualdub and am trying it now.

I have DIVX installed but when I go to the Compression menu, the DivX codec doesn't appear in the list

I am reinstalling the latest version of DivX to see if this solves my problem.
Lets see if I can find what the problem is.

Thanks for the tip. That's a great tool

Best regards.
