I hate to resort to bothering other people about this because I was really determined to do it myself, but I can't for the life of me see what I'm doing wrong. I'm following this tutorial on how to make a candle flame.
http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/tutorials/candle.html
(Fifth picture down) I've made it as far as setting up the Sampler Info Utility node to the lambert shader, and under the connection editor connecting the facing ratio of the SIU to the transparency R, G and B attributes of the lambert shader. Then, when I try to make a set driven key relationship out of these same attributes; facing ratio being the driver, and transparency R, G and B being the driven, no key appears. I'm supposed to set a key and then it appears in the graph editor, where I would make another key so that I could manipulate the the transparency of the flame.
I think maybe it has something to do with the words 'float' and 'vector' in the tutorial. I'm not sure what they are referring to, but I don't see any sort of 'vector transparency' to connect to (I'm just connecting to regular transparency) and I'm not sure what they mean by 'float'. Judging by the pictures of their connections, their SIU node has one connection with three paths pointing to the lambert shader, where mine ends up with three parallel connections. I don't know if this makes a difference, but I'm just throwing it out there.
I hope I'm being clear on my problem. It's a little confusing, but hopefully someone can help me out and if so than thank you in advance!
