I thought the structure would be easily constructed if the materials were transported from Earth, or perhaps the spheres were constructed on the transport ship (brought down as escape/drop pods?). The glass structure is used for growing fruits and vegetables.
I was originally inspired by Pierre Cardin’s bubble house to do a large “house” made up of spheres. It was intended to look like it would house a number of people who were sent out to colonize another world. I then thought that perhaps the colony would consist of families, rather than single scientists, engineers, geologists, etc. I have not worked in 3d for some time, so through much compromise and change, I finally decided on a single housing unit set on a beach.
