ok, at first I watched this with the sound off, so all the editing to the music made it quite strange to watch. With the sound it was much better, but still, I'd think it would be better to have more straight forward editing for a couple reasons. Firstly, many if not most employers watch demo reels with the sound off and in fast forward. Secondly, its just easier to see the models.

I think your 4 legged animal walk cycle looked really nice, so I'd like to see more of it. The last animations were very nice. I think your first alien animations need a little work. The rocket jump seems like it could use some polish. I think you need more animations overall, maybe some run cycles.

Hi ragdoll :)

I agree with aesir...if this was advertised as a music video or something, the editing was have been more appropriate and enjoyable...however, I found it incredibly distracting because I was trying to get a good look at your animation...whereas right now the shots are chopped up, and there's rewinding and fastforwarding, and hard cuts, and flashes etc. I thought your cheetah walk, and bust through the wall were the best animations. The rest were hard to judge because there was so much editing going on.

i've anticipated 2 out of 3 possible crits... the first one being it in tune to the music with a bunch of rew ffwd and hard cuts in between, instead of the standard turn table and wire. what can i say?... i like to put on a good show. something that'll entertain me aswell and just mix it up a bit. not very helpful in my side tho...so i probably wouldn't stick to it in the future...the second part is the lack of animation clips, i do have a few lip syncs and acting clips but i used a downloaded rig so i don't think it'd be right for me to have someone elses rig on here. i really should focus more on animation.

lastly was about the music...i guess not a lot of people are into it so i'm guessing that's why nobody bothered to ask...:D thanks always for the helpful feedback! glad i did one thing right with it being entertaining. :)

You can use a downloaded rig as long as it was free to download. Just give credit to the original creator. You can always use those types of things for personal projects.

you can entertain people after you get the job. A Demo reel is to demo the skills you need for the job you're applying to. If it's an editing job, fine. For modeling or animation this doesn't work well. I couldn't really make out any details on the models because of the erratic editing job. Also It would be in your best interest not to subject people to a 20 sec name and moving text intro. Some recruiters can be impatient. You are looking for work right? That's why you made this reel?

Over all the work is good from what I could see. But, I would just keep it simple.

hey thanks for the feedback! truth is i just put this together for the heck of it and wasn't really serious about applying for anything...yet...but if something came up sure! but since i'm still not done with school and all it was all just for fun...i'll take all the advice given and make a better one sometime next year.
