hey all..

so im working on a Lamborghini Murciélago.. aren't we all:p

i was working on this last year.. kinda got distracted, busy and what have you.. but now im back on it.. and i have a problem.. for those of you who know the car, this will make sense.. for those of you who don't, refer to the attached image..

there is a "crease" on the front sides of the car... it isn't really a crease, more of a visable line.. its common on many cars. I, however, cannot for the life of me figure out how to make this look good. I found a tutorial on smoothing groups, but that didn't seem to be going in the right direction. I found a thread on cgtalk about "local control", but again, wrong direction. so basically, im asking.. how do i do this? were either of those right, and im just stupid? realize, im essentially a complete noob. well.. not really.. but this is a challenging project for me..

thanks!

as for geocities, you just have to copy and paste the link into a new window, then it works

assuming you are using poly modeling and max 5 for this, all you should have to do is take the edge you have at that crease right now and chamfer it a little bit. this should, when the caris meshsmoothed, give you a sharper edge there, such as the car has. you will probably have to play around a bit to get the chamfer amount right, as that really depends on teh scale of your car, etc.

some may tell you to use vertex weighting on the meshsmooth there, but from what i understand that jacks your mapping all up, so i say just go with a chamfer on the edge :)
