make each icon 24x24 and 16x16, then put all of the 24x24 in a row in one image, i.e. if u hav 5 icons, u make one image 24x120 and the same for the 16x16 icons. then make an alpha for each set. save them as xxx_24a.bmp for the alpha and xxx_24i.bmp for the color and do the same for the 16x16. max needs an alpha and color for the 24x24 and 16x16. once u hav ur images, put em in ur C:\max\UI\icons folder. start max and customize away.

you might want to try adding those bmps in max/ui/discreet as well, see if that solves it

Max ships with a sample script called MakeIcon (which you can find on my site, too)
http://www.scriptspot.com/bobo/mxs3/cim/MakeIcon_max4_55.zip

It will let you create new sets of icons, render your scene as icon, add, copy, delete, preview etc. icons in both formats (the small is 16x15 btw, not 16x16).

Once you have created an icon set in the script, you can open the file in Photoshop and use it as template if you want to edit manually, or just keep the rendered version.

You have to restart Max to get any new icon sets (.bmp files) updated.

thanks Mr. Bobo

how can i create buttons on toolbar for modifiers from plugins that doesn't come with the 3dsmax like "Model Hair" from shag hair ? and how to crate a button that execute the script without browsing? :)
