Very nice model and head texture. The only thing I can say is that the head seems a little too small.

Hi everyone.
That is truth that chest area is too bigi,
I agree and I gonna fix it......
Very soon I will present some new Photos of this character.
To map this head I use as a bacground Photo, and I painted above of it.....
There is 4 different maps to texture the head.......

really nice start!
ok to fake a little the soft aspect of the skin, put a fallof in your self illumination(set at 40 or 30 ) and instead of the black/white default, try some dark brown/ light orange colors setup your fallof so the bright color still on the sides. give it a try, you'll like it ;)

Hi. It is not just you, this is really bad ear, but I did not have a time to model it , so i have used some from the old model ( actually first model of human head what i have done:) )
The same is with proportion of this head, i know that that is a lot of mistakes, but how I sad it is erly model......

you already finish for this challenge, maybe you can change the background, (white is to much agressive for the eyes)
:):wip: :applause:
nice work !

Actually is not finished yet. Lighting is poor, and I have to changed some of the textures..... ,
I traid the way of Pascal Blanche with self ilumination, but with gi the face looks
strange, no shadows on the surface. But i goona try it once again , and we will see..
Job is almost done, but time for details.....
Any sugestion with lighting and rendering?

Hey, great.
I'd say he looks damn fine. The head looks very organic and beat up. :)
The pants right now I think are the strangest thing texturally. They seem to have ribs, but they don't show up in the geometry. Unless you are planning on changing the mesh, I think perhaps it would need to be toned down a little bit. Also, the scratches or stains or whatever on the pants are pretty flat. This guy looks awesome, though. The textures are great.

For rendering I have used 2 area lights and HDRI ilumination. On face sss.....

The texturing is amazing. The modeling is good, but the ear looks like it needs some work. It looks small and pinched at the back. Plus the torso is thick and boxy as if this guy has a cube for a ribcage. The eyes look like they are sitting very close to the front of the orbits and the side of the zyglomatic bone looks pinched. I model characters for a living 24 7 and I am very impressed with your work, just passing along constructive crit.

Excellent work!

Hey, firstly, ABSOLUTELY AWESOME WORK SO FAR!!! :applause:

The face is really fantastic! (my favourite part of it :)) And your leather texturing is really excellent too (I love leather ;))

I think the thing that really bugs me are the items on the belt, and the belt itself too. There is something very cg about them and I think it's because there is wear and tear missing in certain places. The belt should be more worn along it's edges - it looks like you used a procedural texture for them which means that the overall texture is too random. Things get damaged in very specific ways in real life according to the way in which they are handled. A belt for instance, would become worn along it's edges because leather frays where it has been cut to shape - you know, the way it gets a bit, umm, hairy?
Also the items sitting along the belt have no damage along their edges, when in fact, an item like that would constantly be getting scraped along it's edges... Let me do a picture to illustrate what I mean....
You see how I've added scratches on the metal edges, and also some variation along the edges of the belt? You should do more of this kind of thing, to make them more believable as items which are actually used :)

Thanks everyone for you constructive critic.... I love it, and i belive this is the point of this challange.... ( to lern something from the others:))

great character, lighting seems fairly flat though, and doesnt look HDRI, just looks like 1 spots on it. Are you using area lights, shadows seem to sharp.

Marcin_Kryjom
04-21-2002, 12:51 AM
You got this filling about HDRI , becouse i have removed HDRI image backround.
One of the ligts have raytraced shadows, this is why is so sharp. I wanted this character in this moment in open, full sun desert enviroment, but lighting is that thing what I have to work out....

Marcin_Kryjom
04-21-2002, 01:18 AM
And this is why the shadows are so sharp. FR rect. Light with raytraced shadows.... ( very simple render done just to show how it works...:) )

If you're going for a desert look, turn up the contrast and lessen the softening on the main light so that you get a sharp light. Play with them settings! :) Also, blueish shadows would be a good idea. Keep it up

nice model...the leather texture looks awesome! did you decide to ditch the hair? i liked it. he looks like a post apocalyptic character. you ever read a comic book called Just A Pilgrim by Garth Ennis? or Preacher? those would be great references for what you're doing. keep it up. still have a couple weeks to go.
