Hello, this is my first whole female model. She will eventually be clothed. I still must model her feet, theeth, and tonque. Then I'll start texturing, rigging, making it asymetrical, and modeling the clothes of course. Enjoy! I'd love to hear your comments and crits. There are some problems with the shoulders, but I don't know what it is because I can't find many images of women with their arms spanned like that.

Hello again. I'm going to start modeling her feet today, maybe her teeth and tonque as well, and I'd like any advice/tips you could give me before I get real hardcore into modeling them if you can. I'm gonna start reviewing my anatomy knowledge of them and find some good reference pics.

Holy shiznits! You do! That's awesome! We should meet and discuss 3d some time, I've met a few Utahns but most of them live quite a distance away, you're the first to live in my same city.

Anways, I fixed her shoulders up a bit after having a conversation with Urgaffel in #cgtalk.

Ah so there's the rest of your avatar :D

Really like her face, she comes off very cute. :)

Body wise I think the shoulder fix helped, but now her neck is seeming extremely long even for a gazelle-like model type. May just be due to the hair not being there, but not sure. The rest is shaping up well. Couple other things off the top of my head, her hip and thigh regon is looking sorta squared off still, especially in the other views, more tweaking there might help..and the dip in the arms above the elbow could be less exaggerated, it's a bit abrupt. You're still working on the forearms and hands, right?

Hope that's helpful or correct at all..keep on..

hey lightwaver!

nice going man... but poly hairs suck at render time and very
nasty to get control or 'hair style'...

whats the name of the plugin ?... hum.. shaghair ? no... dunno,
but try some plug for lightwave with hair..

nice face, dude... ;) good modeling skills ;)

Keep it up...

Thanks. Please explain what you mean about the thighs and hips. The hair plugin is called saslite, but I choose to do poly hair, because it's my style, and it really doesn't take very long to render since I'm using a clip map instead of a trans map.

lerpie i think the problem with the shoulders is that they just arent high enough. Women have a much more raosed and level shoulder area in relation to their collarbone and neck. I think if you just push them up and leave everything else alone it will look great.

That could be true, but anyways, here's an update, fixed some stuff in boobs.

great job on the face and lips

the hands need more curvature
they seem flat

the hair isn't working too well either

I'm another Utahnian (or however you spell that) I live in South Jordan. I'm new to 3d and the only note worthy thing I've done is make an image that won 2nd place in the Utah Multimedia Art Festival on the 30th of April 2003. Utah represent.

Awsome model. Mine was a woman too. I learned a lot from making her.

Peace.

great :applause: So we can expect an exclusive Utahnian 3d modelling club in short time?

Agreed with Maximus Groff about the hair. it doesn't suck because of render time, it just doesn't look like hair. imho.

Hey, I updated the first images(http://www.qone12.com/~lerpiedood/monicaR02.jpg , http://www.qone12.com/~lerpiedood/monicaR03.jpg ) and I added a new render http://www.qone12.com/~lerpiedood/monicaR04.jpg

Hot diggidy damn! Another Utahn! We could start a Utahn cg artist club, that would be cool. I also met a few lightwavers at the clark planetarium.

Just a few more tweaks before I model the feet. I made her legs thinner and more slenderized, after looking at a few girls legs today in school, I also made her neck not so long.

IMHO...the upper arms are way to big....slim them down a bit...not too much just a bit so they fit the proportions you already have going on the rest of the body....great work...odd thing is you modeled one of my girlfriends faces to a tee. Great job:thumbsup:

Looking great Lerpie. You damn highschoolers are giving the "Veterans" a run for thier money :)

I don't think you can take this model much farther than you already have, but I will make 2 suggestions:

For rigging purposes, its always better to model the thumb in a more relaxed state. If you look at your hand in real life, you will see that for the most part it sits at anywhere from a 45-60 degree angle to the palm. in your model, it sits flush with the fingers, making it hard for it to be an "Opposable" Thumb. (Sp?) Theres nothing wrong with the modelling there, you just may want to consider adjusting its placement for rigging later on down the road.

The second thing I'de like to see tweaked is the feet. They seem very shoe-boxish. Its a little hard to see in your render, but it doesnt look like you have the structure quite right. Looking down from the top the toes should be in a definate arc, with the little toes set quite back and slightly off to the side. I think the thing that really throws me off though is the big toe. It doesnt look strong enough to me.

All in all, a great model so far. Now give the poor woman some clothes...!

When i stretch my arms out like that there is a slight dip in before the shoulder bulges up. Kinda between the collar bone area and the shoulder. Maybe if the neck were a tiny bit thinner...i am not sure about that though. Hope that helps

Thanks for the crits guys. I've start UV mapping her, for something new, though I still am going to model the inside of her mouth before I begin to paint my textures. I remodeled the eyeballs to look better. Hope you like.

I'm staying focused! I have got her all welded up! And here's my first texture test with the UV maps, checkerboard pattern.

Nice work. I think I agree with Remi about the arms though - they still look a bit thick where they connect to the shoulders.

I like the feet too, but a few of those toenails need trimming ;).

As you can see I updated the first page with an image of her wearing a shirt. Yes I started modeling her clothes, I need some ideas for the pants. I also have almost mastered rigging in LW and have a decent rig for her, though I still need to make her weight maps.

hey dude. nice model. i see you got your uvs all nicely mapped. cant wait for the textured version.

oh btw, why dont you use IMG function to attached the link for your images? at least we dont have to open another browser ;)

Thanks, I havn't used the [IMG] tag on most my images because most of the updates are small, and I don't want to cause horrendesly long load times on these pages, I have [img] tagged the best ones though.
