I'm following along with gmask's WRX tutorial (after having read through it twice) while modeling an Audi RS 6 Avant in Maya 4.5. This is my second 3D model and my first 3D car model, so I'm probably doing something wrong. :D

While making the hood, I tried to select an isoparm, but can't seem to select any. My hood has two rails and three profiles, and I used the Birail 3+ tool. How exactly do I select an isoparm? I've checked the Help Files and checked the Quickstart guide, but found no instructions on exactly how to do it.

Also, how do I "generate a curve"? Is that just basically creating a curve or is it a specific command on the menu?

Many thanks in advance!

Hello,

I'll try to give you a hand but just so you know I didn't write the wrx tutorial but as far as I know the author is still unreachable.

An isoparm is a component so you cgo into component mode. THere are three buttons at the top of the Maya interface. Select the one that is a cube with four faces and an arrow touching the botton right face. You will then see several icons one which is a half cyliunder with a line through it.. that is the line selection or in this case isoparm selction tool. Nurbs have iosparms and polys have edges this tool selects either.

I think what is meant by generating a curve is that you select and isoparm and then use the Edit Curve>duplicate surface curves command. This will copy the isoparm into a seperate editable curve.

Okay I hope that helps..

Sorry, I thought you were the author. Thanks for the help, that explains a lot.
