I think that really the only way I have heard that works is Hypernurbs.

Never seen a tutorial on how to do this exactly. however There was one on how to make sunlight by charles piles that goes over this abit

http://www.3dluvr.com/carles/tut01en.htm

just let the whole thing load then scroll around I think it might be in there if not than what the heck its a neat tut anyway.

wow, i agree, that is pretty nifty little tut there, i have not seen that one. But on the otherhand...not quite what i was getting at, but it is a good start for a cape or something.

here are some of the best examples that i am able to creat, of what i am trying to do.....I would like to try to do a full body (all the front and the back w/ sleeves like of a priest's outfit, and then have a slit in front from about 3/4 up the legs to the bottom....that is what i want to accomplish. But here is my trial w/ the lofting, and i like it so far.

and here is another view
that shows the front kindof. You can see where the head goes and all. Eventually, if i am going to create this type of cloak, i would like to have dynamics or something on it, so it moves w/ the character. if you know what i mean.

Another way would be to use a 'bezier NURBS'. You should only adjust the number of points acording to how you need them.

This is was my first attempt at modeling a cloth like thing.

besier NURBS would be an interesting way to create them...it would give youo a little more control if i am coorrect...

I have heard that dynamics is not the best way to create fabrics that are actually "worn". Ihave heard that it would be best to wait until a major update of dynamics comes out to try using it for that.

alright,i guess i will hold of on creating an animation for it then....i will have to post up my WIP soon here.

however its possible that you could morph through certin shapes.

like if you little dude wearing it has a walk cycle your cloak can to. one shape for Left leg one for right leg up etc...

ah, i see....about the only thing i would like to do for the or if animatin purposes, or even just poseing the character, is that when i say bone the character, and the cloak while standing up, i would like to have him kneel down and therefore you can imagine what the shape of the cloak would presume after that.
