hi all

I'm very new to these forums so be nice :)

I've recently aquired a project that requires me to make a virtual building. I'm using blender for the modelling software for 2 major reasons:

1. in my limited experience it's all I've used
2. perhaps the biggest factor for a student ... it's free

I was wondering if anyone could provide useful links to tutorials on creating buildings within blender, specifically game buildings. Would prefer active links ... too many I manage to find are broken or no existant any more.

Thanks for any help.

this is one of, if not the best tut, on modeling architecture in blender.

yorik's tutorial is more directed at pre-rendered arch-vis, but indeed, if you know that you need to use uv-maps for materials/textures, and know to keep your polygon limits low enough, then its a usable tutorial.

dragonstooth, i suggest you just check out(look for) blenders general modeling & uv-unwraping tutorials, and search the net for custom game maps creation tutorials, perhaps? :)

also, what engine do you use, if its no secret?
i might be of little more help if id know. :)

heres one that covers some more game specific stuff....

modelling is simplistic, but techniques are good

thanks for that.

That one is probably a little simplistic for me. But it will be very useful in other projects I have no doubt. :)

Should probably say that the building I'm designing will probably end up more like a level in implementation in that the user will be inside it and not leave it. That's about the closest I can get to describing it. But these tutorials have given me ideas about how to achieve this.
