I'm starting to think this constraint is very buggy

I have two character, one picks up the other, that works fine, link char1 character icon to the char2 hand controler. Char2 picks up the character, no problems.

Then char2 is supposed to drop char1 but he doesnt want to, I tried setting the link constraint to the world, I tried setting it to another object that doesnt move, and still it doesnt work.

Any way to fix this?

Meh, the link-constraint..

It sometimes feels a little buggy because.. well.. because it is buggy! :)

I suggest you make a dummy object, then do the linking thing on that at first. That ought to work. Then finally hook up char2 to the dummy and see if that works?

It might break the same, just sometimes it helps simplifying things by breaking the whole procedure into seperate smaller chunks.

Ah well, at least the linkconstraint is better than Maya's :) ..well.. up until 4.5 anyway. But I digress.

It's always a good idea to set a Link to World before hand, say at frame 0 or -10, then start swapping links from object to object and the world.
Creating a translation keyframe at the same frame you add a new link or you link to the world also helps.

Good luck

gaggle,
well, if it actually is buggy then it would explain alot since I have had to go through a rather long anoying process just to get the pick up phase ;)
I'll try the dummy thing later on, probably wont work on this untill after 1-2 weeks (damn school)

kiko,
yeah I'v done that now, before I didnt link to world and then when char2 picked up char1 at frame 700 or so he seemed to have picked him up at frame 0, so I just linked it to world at frame 0 and that did the trick for that.
I'll also check on this creating a keyframe at the same time.. in about 1-2 weeks.

thanks for your help:applause:
