Ok, I know going in that I'm asking probably a very stupid question here but I promise - I searched the web first for answers before bothering you fine folks.
I've been looking at the models of more experienced artists and notice they often apply different colored lamberts to their models (without breaking the actual model up, mind you). I assume they do this to demarcate different submeshes before running the model through a level editor/game pipeline but I'm confused about why and when you should use a submesh. Can anyone shed some light on this?
I would be very grateful. Thanks!
