View Full Version : Anim: Train Cars
Joel Hooks 05-05-2003, 08:30 PM I am animating a train going down the tracks (and subsequently mowing through a minivan), and I was wondering if anybody had any good ideas on animating a train and cars? I just can't wrap my brain around it today.
Would a path controller be the best route? Then affecting the offset for the follow cars?
Any thoughts are appreciated!

Path would probably be easiest. How realistic are you making it?
Remember that some train cars have wheel rails that operate independantly from the carriage, as to allow for smoother banking around turns.
You may be able to rig it so that the engine only has to follow the path and then the carriages follow the path of the engine via controller wiring.
Is it a diesel train, steam train, or a monorail? Each one works a little differently.
Um.... yeah. My brain isn't working too well today either.:hmm:
