Hello all, you may remember this wip from before. The reason I've started a new thread with an update is because all of the links from before are now broken and who wantes to see a bunch of words and no pictures to back them up?

Anyway, heres an update on my man Pitt. I've begun to texture his head and torso nothing else. Anyone know of any good tutorials on painting textures? I'd like to do better on the color channel.

All comments are welcome.

Your model looks great. A good help for textures (at least it's helped me out alot getting started on textures) is 3D texture workshop by Bill Flemiing. it's rather inexspensive. Hope this helps. Also for metal textures and rust and stuff I would go to secondreality.ch (http://www.secondreality.ch/) There are some good tut's on that site too. Good luck.

Thanx for the info tonemah. I've heard of that book and acually there was an exerpt from it in 3dWorld magazine. I think I am going to purchase it because I am not having much luck finding an online tutorial that goes into as much detail as that book does.

See the problem is, Pitt is a comicbook character. So when it comes to his skin, the comic is of course not going to have imperfections across his skin to use as reference. But, if I don't make a color map for his skin with imperfections he will look plastic. Also his skin is grey. So its like I have to make some decisions on what exactly to do to his skin color and what not to do. I do still want him to be recognised as Pitt immediatly.

Do you think I should go ahead and make his skin more realistic by putting some different colors, blotches, scars, or even moles on it?

Can you point me to any good books on painting such textures. I have Digital Texturing & Painting by Owen Demers and although i do find it a great resource, I'd like to find something more specific to techniques used in photoshop to paint realistic skin.

I heard of a book called "Photoshop 5 3d Textures f/x and Design: The Premier Resource for Creating 3d Digital Realities by Producing Photorealistic Image Maps" by Geoffrey Smith. Have any of you read that?

One more thing. I'd like to send this to Dale Keown (creator of Pitt) when I complete an animation. How do you all think I should approach him. I dont mean how do I contact him, I mean should I try to sell to him or try to have him host it on his website? Exposer is my main concern.

Well thanx in advance for any help you can offer.

Oh yeah, cool. Its "PITT". I use to love PITT and still have Issue 1 and 2 of the comic book.

I would make the teeth sharper instead of rounded veggie eater type teeth.
His teeth where sharper in the comics if I remember Keowns sketches.

Looking good so far, cannot wait to see him textured with some claws.:)

Not bad, looks pretty good so far.

The lighting though I think is....absent?? Cannot really tell how they will react in the light. Also maybe some slight bump and displacement??:lightbulb :hmm:

I think shedding some light on the subject will help.:)
