View Full Version : model is inverted
sensetarget 03-06-2008, 11:41 PM how can I get my mesh to be inverted. I am modling a car, I designed the cage using nurbs, now I converted it to poly. when trying to make cuts, I cant make cuts because the model is inverted. the backface is what I see and the actual face is the inside of the mesh.

you need to flip the normals of you model. depending on what program you are using the wording will be different. in max for example, select all your faces in face mode and then if you are in editable poly, choose "flip" under the edit polygons roll out. in maya, it would be normals menu "reverse"
In Maya you would Reverse Normals- you could also display normals to see which way they're facing throught the display polygons>normals.
And if that's too difficult to figure out then do a render from inside your object and if the texture/shading is inside then you know the normals are reversed.
Sorry, just thought of one more thing- sometimes Mudbox flips objs from Maya insideout when they were -1 x scale in Maya.
