View Full Version : Do you work on more than one thing at a time?
pixel8or 05-05-2003, 07:10 PM I was just wondering.... I had a painting teacher say it was a good idea to have two or three paintings going at the same time. That way, if you get tired/frustrated/bored of one you can work on something different.
I'm working on that head tutorial, but I still go and do other tutorials along with reading the manual and experimenting.
Any thoughts on this?

it all depends on what you feel best doing. I usually work on too many projects at once and miss my deadlines etc...
not that I care cause I am having fun.

I find that I'm always working on three or four projects at once; about half of them are ever finished, and about half of those are ever seen by anyone other than myself :)
One nice thing about working this way: if I ever come up against a creative block, I just go back to some of my unfinished projects. Even if I don't complete any of them, they'll always give me ideas for other images.

This is exactly the way I work too :D
Although I always try to focus on a single project and finish it :p.
I "try" to focus but it never seems to work.

haha yes I never have one thing going at a time, I'd go insane if I did. I usually have some sort of scene for a plugin test, some sort of experiment for self interest, I currently have 2 rigs I"m setting up (though verysimilar so more of just setting up on rig in two characters.) then a scene or two to help someone else everyonce in a while, then a model in clay, I'm also (re)learning mirai again so I have two scene going on in there well sort of scenes, and Learning a little Maya rigging on the side. Was planning on some motion uilder but will wait a bit, mirai has sort of taken priority since I discovered my new ATI will work with it.
so yeah I usually have a few things on the go, thats not including the two unfinished sketchs in my book that have been sitting there for a while now :/

I tend to make one thing at a time, just sort of stay focused on the one project I guess, I think If I spent more than a couple of weeks on one scene though I'd probably just get bored of it. I guess it all depends on how long your willing to stare at the same object

I try to work on different projects at the one time. If i work on a project and get no inspiration, i then proceed to start another then another then another.....

Me I am focusing on one thing only. If I get jobs, it might happen that I am working on 5 plugins at the same time so you better not talking to me
Concerning artist work, I am concentrating on one project if possible at a time. I can get more out of it than working on several things and not finishing one of them...
But that´s all specific, so you´ll have to find your own way anyway.
