here is a small update :

http://sivel.free.fr/wip/cgtalk_avril_2002/wip1b.jpg

I would like to make the painting appears to certain places but I don't know how to do it at the moment...
some lightwavers here to explain the best way to do it? :)

Your specularity is too constant, it needs to go hand in hand with your bump map... Rusty metal is not shiny at all. You might also want to add a bloom image filter to it to get it to shine really brightly on the shiny bits.
With regards to your last question there, I'm not sure I entirely understand what you mean, but I think what you are after is how to block out bits of your image map? If that's what you want to do, then you need to make a black and white image to use as an alpha channel layer in the surface editor.
Why don't you ask your question in French? That way we can better understand what you mean :):)

eyh leigh, you're right, it's much more easier for me in french! :D
en fait je voulais savoir comment gerer sur ma surface a la fois le cote metal vieilli et le cote peinture...
vaut il mieux retoucher mes images maps ou jouer avec des procedurales?

so here is the updates :

Nothin' like an old rusty vehicle to bring out the best in texturing ability!

"retoucher mes images maps" -- avec plus 'alpha' maps

Tres bien Sivel!

Please excuse my French... not much French in western Canada unfortunately...

I think it all looks pretty awesome.... But.... Back in the day, they used to paint those things. If, all the paint had worn off... as I have seen in really ol junkers... there would be no shinyness to it at all, everything would be rusted.... Also.... flecks of primer in rust would be really cool looking.... as it is... your looking like someone did a quick hit with a grinder to try to restore it....

This is kinda an example... a Car I did for a post apoc game...

As for what Leigh was talking about.... Rust is not overly reflective... You can use a map to tell what sections are reflective on the surface. So where rust is, reflection wont be.

ok, here is a small update :

http://sivel.free.fr/wip/cgtalk_avril_2002/wip3.jpg

It's difficult for me to concentrate on this month challenge because of political events here in France...(we have to choose between a swindler and a f****g fascist for the presidential elections. hard choice, isn't it?)

i'm not sure i will able to finish this challenge, bad mood here :annoyed:

bye

I really like your model, and the textures so far are really fantastic! I could totally imagine finding this thing out in the middle of a field or the desert. Really great work so far. :applause:

Man and I thought we had it bad here in the states as far as politics. It seems to me that the french people have become stuck between a rock and a hard place :thumbsdow ... I hope it turns out better than it appears.

Hej Sivel !!
It's been a long time since Graphinews ! (and the same little pig :) )

You seem to have progressed a lot in 3D, and your 2d skills seem to be very helpful.

Well done, i look forward to the finished textured model.

Ps: your lightwave site is really promising too, not enough updates though.. :)

You really master your texturing.
This is very very good. The dirt, scratches and everything seems to be there. maybe one thing....on the tire treads..I'd add scratches, they look like they were never used!

keep going I'll check back to see the whole thing later. Again, this is very nice :)

all great, the doorway is just striking though:thumbsup:

not sure how you'll use the floor map, but there are just a couple details that make the tile too obvious, mainly the two whitest spots and some of the darkest ones, but no grip, that's a nice surface too!

keep it up

wow! your textures look very good:p My only crit is the tires need some dirt, wear and tear added to them.

hope you find time to finish it...good luck:thumbsup:
