Hi all .

I was wondering if there is away to do a boolean and a bevel after the boolean .
For example I a cube and a sphere and I subtracted apart of the cube with the sphere, and now I want to bevel the edges of my parted cube .
I attached image.
Im working with cinema 4d but my question is for every one .
Thanks

no way man... first of all i think boolean is a wrong way of modelling in most cases.. it spoils the mesh flow unless u go and edit it all after the boolean.. to get a bevel u need to have a loop flowing along the area where u want to bevel...

The thing is that I want precise shape.
Any one encountered that problem beside me??

The only way to achieve that involves selecting manually all the edges yo want to chamfer or bevel, as the select loop option of your program will probably not work.
After that you will need to clean up the mess by deleting certain edges that screw up the geometry.

Because of the kind of style of the project I am currently working on, I do encounter this kind of situations quite oftenly.
usually I will model the shape manually trying to keep the amount of edges to a minimum and flowing the geo where needed.
After that I would bevel the edges and apply a meshsmooth or subdivide modifier (name depends on your app).
Try keepin the geometry as simple as possible.
you can even try to create a boolean operation and then use it as a base for your object by cleaning it and then doing you work on top of it.

well... hope it can help a bit.

I agree with the doing it manually for sure...

I would post this question in the Wings3d forum... there is a guy there by the name of PuzzlePaul who lives to do this kind of stuff... faking boolean ops and such... guys a puzzle wizzard...

koke, I had to do this for a logo I already did, but I asked because im sure ill need to do it again sometime any way when i did it i tought about both does systems and ended up doing the second one I just thought maybe there was a simple way with keeping the precision
cus the boulean was done on asphere and modeling aperfect sphere by hand it pretty hard.
Any way maybe this puzzle wizzard guy will have adiffrent system
