View Full Version : Network Rendering: Error
Maven 05-05-2003, 03:45 PM I get this error message when attempting to do a network render.
"Error creating 3ds max plugin instance for backburner"
Does anyone know what is wrong by just reading this message? I went thru help and it didn't. I have used this feature before, but I can't figure out what is different besides that I haven't yet done this with 5.1.
I only have my machine and one other machine.

have you installed the 5.1 upadet on the renderslave as well ?? cause that's a MUST . . . cause the 5.1 update updates the backburner as well. so if you didn't, you got out-of-sync backburner versions.
that's the 1st thing that comes to mind anyoo

Yeah, they are all updated.
Howdy !
Just a thought...
did you check that all the plugins versions are the same from one machine to another ? any plugin you'd be using needs to be installed as well on the renderslave(s); and maybe you have updated a Max stdplug on one machine and not the other ?
(i don't know cause i never did try, but like in Max 4.2 with the Epoly2.dll that was an update to standard Epoly object or stuff like that, maybe you've updated somethingon a single machine ?)

I've found when that happens I have to uninstall backburner, and then reinstall it. Then everything worked fine again.

Well I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it but now max says that it can't find backburner because it is either missing or not installed. Any idease on how to fix this? I tried reinstalling like 10 times.
But I can run manager, monitor, and server but I just cant launch a job from inside 3DStudio.

Next best thing would be to check the Discreet site/forum and see if they have any FAQs about this topic.
