About KA-50 model:
I would like to show you what I am modeling for a last two years. First of all I would like to say that this is just my hobby, just a some kind ofrelaxation after work. That's why it takes so long. So here is a model of KA-50 helicopter. Modeling is not finished yet and not even 50% of the whole work is done. But anyway, the most comlicated part of the project is over. Here is some modeling facts of the project. I have started to model KA-50 more than two years ago. At the begining I bought a plastic toy model of the helicopter and used it as a protoype. It was my mistake since very quickly I have figured out that the plastic model does not give me enough information about proportions of the helicopter. And later on I have started the whole project from scratch by using detailed bleuprints of a real KA-50. From that time this work is still in the process. I am using 3DStudio MAX. I am creating this project by using Meshes since I need to get 2 models at the end: one is highly detailed and another one as a LowPoly mesh. I did not work with textures so far in this project. KA-50 blueprints used in this project: I have found a few blueprints (5000x3000) with 6 viewpoints with the right proportions of the helicopter. In addition I have found about 20 close photos of the real KA-50. The current 3D model contains 500K polygons. The final model hopefully will be in about 700K polygons. Computer which I am using for modeling and rendering is pretty common: P3-500 and 492 RAM + GeForce 256 DDR.

Fantastic - it looks like two years of effort has gone into this. Looking forward to seeing a completed, textured image. One hopes it's not two more years until then.
Oh, the last link is not working as you intended.

The helicopter looks soo great!!! Really inspiring!
Were there any annoyingly-hard-parts to model?
Sunnncho

All parts of Model in hard to modelling, because all details is real!
Too hard to me was "engine lid" modelling process. I remade it few times and not completed yet.
Sorry For MY English - is not good.
This is smoking tube( I don't know how call this detail in english):

I like it, i allways thought the KA-50 was wider than that, whenever I have used it in Commanche Hukom (great game) it allways gave the impression of being phatter, however if you have modeled it to blue's then you are probably right. And this would be the KA-50 A btw.

Is it joke? As I Understand, you doing comparison of my model and
game's models? ... All models KA-50 that I ever seen in Games
(especially in not russian games) was wrong ! Game developers
not KWON nothing about KA-50!!!

Awesome job man, very cool. The model is very accurate as far as I can see, except the wings on the second image you've shown look longer than the wings in ur image, not sure if it's the perspective or what. And for something at this stage in texturing, the render kicks ass. Thanks for showing!
I don't know much about helicopters, but the equivalent to the "smoking tube" in cars is the exhaust pipe in English, so I think it would be something around those lines. Exhaust vent, maybe?

2Novakog: You wrong man about wings. On the photo you see perspective view. My shot without perspective effect. If you see front view, than you understand all.

mmm I know that there is a houkum that is twin seat, and that the seats are side to side, like the fighter (cant remember the name) that the Russians have too. I am making that version soon.
most of you links are broken btw. shame as it looking good so far.

2Rei Ayanami: I think you mean "KA-52 Alligator"??? This modification have twin seat. My model - "KA-50 Black Shark" (Hokum in NATO classification).
Next do the Ka-52 Alligator (Twin seat side-by-side) :)
