This character is based on a metal figure from www.latorremodels.com. Painted in Photoshop CS. I used a color base layer for each part (skin, shield, helmet, etc) and the dodge /burn tools on a duplicated layer in overlay mode.

The warrior looks truly awesome, but you should really make another background - any background is better than that ;)
