View Full Version : Texture/Light/Render - environment - pcbehmer
pcbehmer 04-18-2002, 02:49 AM Hi guys...
Well, I know that I'm little late, but at least, here is my participation...
That time, I will do a environment because I dont want to see anymore ganesh. Its suposed to be a demon place.
I just finished to model. and give some basic colors.
Please, send me a feedback. Tell me what u think about everything (I know its only texture, light and render that counts, but anyway, take a note). Any suggestions about texturing will be very welcome...
Thx again and make ours critcs..

Well, about yours comments:
ycf98: yap, I agree about the lights... It also will iluminate the pit and u can see the details... (rocks, grass and etc...). about flying souls, I will put before..
mrmark: yes, it is, hehehe (it may hurts, hehehe).. I will post some shot with the details...
.::STRIKE::. : thx man.
Now i thinking in give some plants in the enviorment... will give a good contrast... and about the temple, maybe a concrete with some rust....
well, thx again and keep going...

Bw, Brazil render is very cool.. but I dont know how to do Raytracing :) .. Now I will use (for crystalline lens and nails) and need to learn... its time to go for Brazil's manual...
Well, its it... enjoy and make yours critcs... will be very apreciated..

Oh! That is horrid! :scream:
I love it!
The textures are looking really gross. The blemishes and bruises are awesome, I would try to do more if you can. And the iris is perfect for this eye. Very trippy.
In conclusion:
:buttrock:
the iris is really wonderfull ,wow !!! and great idea

Haloo to all!!!!
First very, very , very thx abou 4 stars!!!! I'm very glad!!!
::thumbsup:
Now, the answers:
Gilgamesh: Thx about comments... about the blemishes and bruises, its purple things in the eye, nope? If was, I will add some more and coagulated blood, when I go to Deep Paint (By now, its only a hand made photoshop texture... )
b.Schulz: Yap, its a photo from a oftal clinic... (I think its the right word, hehehe, sorry my english ;), its like the doctors see our eye...
Well, thx again, and stay turned to recent updates.... (I only say that may be a charachter... I just modeling now
OUCH!!!!!my eyes!!!arg!u are crazy!!!!!Skary cool! very original and weird!!

Your eye shader is great. Would u care to explain how u came up with the final shader or map?

Here is another shots from soul... say what u think....
http://www.patrick.ppg.br/abril/soul.jpg
the transperancy on the skin would be better if it had some kind of fall off, like darker as its closer to edges and more transparent when facing camera, just my opinion and thats a super freaky weird cool eye
pcbehmer
04-25-2002, 12:56 AM
hallo azure.. well I will try to explain with my macarronic english ;)
First of all, the eye is not a simple sphere with a single image map. The eye is composing about cristalism (I think its the right word ;) ) and the globe. In the globe there is a few tricks.
see the image below:
http://www.patrick.ppg.br/abril/globe.gif
like u see, the globe is not a sphere... the cornea is extruded and the iris is concave. The cristalism is another object.
PS. The proportions in image is not right, its just for better illustration...
Now, texturing. First, give a UV map for the globe, unwarp and send to a paint program. Next paint your texture and come back.
Give a low specular, just to notice the volume.
Now, the cristalism. First, give a high specularity and glossiness. It will give the light reflect (the little bright sphere in the eye). Now, give a reflection value (maybe +/- 35%) and a high transparecy (about 98%, just to notice a little translucency) and a light blue translucency.
Give a raytrace reflection, and bingo. U got a eye. (I just looking to see if there is a index of refraction in the eye.. if there is, I will tell... :)
I wish that helps. Anything, just ask and I will try to help.
Cheers, Patrick.

Yap, chi, I noticed that... that was the effect that I wished, but only works with some light config... I trying using transluscency... but I think its not the best way (depends too much of the light direct). I will try with transparency fall off, using a gradient in the map... When I done, I put some updates... thx anyway...
And keep going... :)

Those souls are awesome!:xtreme:
(gotta love the new smileys)
I agree, a falloff map of sorts would be nice. The bone structure is great. I wonder if you could blur the edges of the "skin" material so that it looks more ghostly. Maybe that is a job for post. But it looks great.

hehehe, I just adjusting some parameters in the transparency and see what result, hehehehe...

Dam those souls are awesome...I want one :suprised: They are soo cool.... Are you gonna animate them?
I think I like the blue better...just my opinion.

04-25-2002, 03:47 AM
hehehe, so do I... i post that red because was weird how it come red... I was just adjusting the gradients and ... eeckk... hehehe, its just it... (maybe is something from hell, hehehe  )
in feel minutes, I will post the new souls skin... I started from zero and now I think its better (at least now is indeppendent from light setup)...
Ahh, will be blue, hehehe
So, keep going...

thanks for the explination patrick. My main question was how u made the texture for the color of the eye(hand painted or procedural?). I am asumeing by your explination that it was painted in photoshop or another equivalant. I have made a few eye shaders useing fractal nodes blended together with ramps(all procedural), but none looking quite as vibrants as yours.

If you check a few posts ago I asked the same question...it's a picture of an actual eye.

Here we go...
I think its a little better ... Like I sad before, I rebuild the shader.. now its independent from light and if you look closer (see picture below) the skin will be more aparent, but in far shots, only a silhouette off the skin will appear, but the bones will show...
For that shader, I do something completely different from I was... I dont used transluscency (a little bit, but not like was), but used some shaders from lw, Z shader, Fast Fresnel and edge transparency (to blur a little the skin in close shots..).
Now I thinking in give a better shader for the eyes (to be more brilliant) and adjust some vert in neck area (I dont do right now, because I need to go to MAx for modeling, where is my control cage..)
In the bones, only fresnel, and worked in trasparence, diffuse, etc, to give a X-ray appear.
See and sad if u liked

Hello all !!
First, I want to thx everybody for 5 Stars !!!! :bounce:
:bounce: :bounce:
Here comes another update (I know, long time, but I was just very busy...)
Here goes the rocks whose are around the eye. The bk is just a little procedural, for better visualization from smoke. If u take a close look, will see that the rocks is very hot, too ;)
Now Im going to the pillars (where will have a blod cascate) and the pitt. Im also modeling another details, like snakes, scorpions, rats, glass and etc to make the image more convicent.
That weekend, take a look here. I will do a lot of work.
Thx again and see ya!!!!
Any comments are very wellcome.

Cool, my only comment is that if your not going to have any animation I would try and do the smoke in post rather than use particles. I'm assuming that's what those are. Keep those images coming.

hehe, this gona boost my render... that hypervoxel take a eternity to render... (some hours in my PIV 1700...), and I doesent use volumetrics radiosity in particles...... , but With particles I got a full control of size, direction and density (when I mix all togheter, I will change some parameters for best composion and where will have smoke.., that version is only to test hypervoxel. besides, the inner fire is a volumetric light with a gradient texture
and about the souls? I got no response.... anything to change or is enought?
well, keep going.... now im just unwraping the pillar's mesh (thx to deep uv my work is much more fast... I just using the demo and will buy when my tryout time expires...)
So, see ya....
(and a texture shot from rocks... (no photo and dirty plugins stuff used, all hand painted and procedural)
Ps. somebody knows what color is a blood smoke??

Hi everybody...
Anyone knows if there is a way to transform a hypervoxel surface into a single mesh??? If had, its gona increase my render times... (its just for some heavy dust in the botton o pillar, where will be the pit of blood...)
Well, waiting for response and going to sleep now.... (almost done UV...)
It was a lot of time that i dont jump here..........u post to my thread an then jump to your and........................................................................................................................................GOOOOOOOD!!! hey man!!!!!!what hell you are doing here!!!!:airguitar THe SOULZ rOKZ!
