View Full Version : Misc : Dutch Project to bring skills to new hights
TOMMY 3D FREAK 05-05-2003, 09:30 AM Hi,
I'm Thomas Kroes and I have been practicing 3D for 5 years now as a hobby, and I want to go professional.
I would like to meet dutch people in this froum, since they might be able to give me any tips at getting
a 3D-related job in the Netherlands.
To get to know dutch 3D-ers I'm going to start a project in summer 2003. Anyone interested (especially dutch people)
can respond, I'll send you the details. If you have any additional tips, please let me know....
My hotmail: thomkroes@hotmail.com
Hope 2 hear from u soon!

I'm sorry could you be more specific???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like a normal thread to me!

also, you WILL make a clear threadname.
"help me" just doesn't cut the cake.
example of good threadname:
modeling: meshtools
texturing: uv unwrap
hardware: max crash

Hope this is clear enough!
P.S. I thought this forum was designed to be of help to each other, so please respond if you can be of any help, but don't if you just want to pay attention to formalities.

Wow, Namroth, you sound like a very fun person to be around!
Makes you feel big, throwing those rules around?
I have to stick up for my fellow Dutchman, I think his thread subject was very clear. But if you think it was not maybe you can suggest a better subject that covers his message more?

What he means is that the 3ds max forum is for people to ask 3ds max related questions. In other words, stuff like this should be posted in the correct forum.
But Namroth has some problems getting to the point himself. Maybe next time he shouldn't depend on other people's words that much. :shame:
Anyway, what's this project all about ? Can you please be so kind to post some more info here (will help get more replies for sure).
Have fun!

I don't think there was anything with this thread or it's title personally.
The title was exactly what the thread was about, and the thread content itself is a guy asking other people into max (particularly from his area) for professiona info and/or to form a group project with him.
What is wrong with that?

I definitely agree, but you can't take this person serious if he doesn't take the effort to write down whats wrong with the thread. I think this way of behaving against other people is insulting.
IT IS NOT WHAT YOU SAY, BUT HOW YOU SAY IT!!!!
But i agree, it is maybee not the best place to place this thread!
Regarding the project:
Since my occupation is engineer, my main interests are mechanical subjects like robots and so forth.
What I want to create is a futuristic view on the life of robots. In this animation You will see the birth, life and death of a robot. The main purpose is to get rid of the lifelessness and mechanical, character of robots. Due to artificial Intelligence robots will have more human-like characteristics then we might expect.
Birth:
In approximately 10-15 sec I want to have robots build a robot with parts.
Life:
In approximately 15-20 sec specific characteristics of the robot will be outlined. Elements such as maintenance, working will be shown.
Death:
In the last 15 sec the robot get's broken indefinitely. It ends up on a scrapheap and corrodes away...
Final Notes.
To emphasize the three elements of birth, life and death, each part must have a different 'feel'
--Birth: In this part all the parts and surroundings must have a 'new' look. Very shiny metals and so forth
--Life: Here the main purpose is to illustrate the hard working of the robots, lots of steam etc.
--Death: Here the colors tend to be very dark, Metals are very corroded, and steel is bended, due to metal-fatigue.
Hop this is enough for now!!!!!!!!!!!

relax all, i'm sure Namroth didn't mean it in a bad way . . . just trying to do his part to keep the forum nice and organised . . .
I agree that it wasn't done in a tactical manner . . .
as for the guidelines. according to the posting guidelines, the threatitle should follow a certain Syntax ea
Modeling : Edgeloop
or in this care, Misc : Dutch Project
hope this clears the air a bit . . . ;)

Let me know. Very interrested in mechanical animation, since I'm focussed mostly on character animation.
Let me know!
Cheers,

Hi Tommy and enthousiasts,
I see that there allready are a lot of motivated participants. I want to suggest you to setup a forum or website or something like that for the peeps to aply for sudden tasks within the project.
Like storyboard writers, concept artists, etc.
We need also some communication device like MSN as you sugested.
For me i would like to help you setup the first steps like a movie related website.
I'm looking forward to hear more....:)

Great initiative! I'm also interested :)
But I totally agree with mmwizard, for such projects it's imperative to have a website with forum/chat for communicating and sharing files with eachother. I've been thinking about setting up a dutch-oriented 3d-forum for some time now, maybe we can make it a combined effort?
Like Martijn said, it's about time we create a serious 3d movement in The Netherlands!!

yeah idea......anything simple would be sufficient. Maybe we can post design proposals (not complete designs, but anything from design concepts for small details to object, or whatever).

well today i agreed with Tommy to setup the temp. website. It would help speed things up if somebody allready have the complete scripts for a chatroom and/or a forum.
And... Tommy offered his domain with a 100MB of free space to start things up. :applause:

Hi, it's cool to see so many dutch people on this board... I don't think i have the skill to help out with the project. I still have much to learn.
But since you asked about forum scripts, phpbb is a free plug and play ready to go forum wich will run on any server with PHP and MySQL.
It's real easy to use so i'd recommend it. I think many of you already know this script.
it's available from: http://www.phpbb.com

Hi everybody,
To be short: Great!
Helemaal te gek!
I'm amazed to say the least! I think that with so many motivated people this project will work definitely!
I agree with the remark that planning is an essential part of this project. As you already know I have reserved place on my website to do some communication and sharing of files...
And certainly everyone is invited, the reason why I asked for dutch people, is the fact that 3D in the netherlands is not being exersiced as intensively as in foreign countries. I, for myself like to meet new people, that share the same interests as I do... Maybee this initiative will shake up the world of 3D in the Netherlands. Anyone have any further ideas? Please let me know, I'll respond as fast as I can...
Bye for now and hope 2 talk 2 U soon!
