This is an alien hover tank that i have been working on for a student game. It is at 432 polys triangulated. Feel free to give any crits.

hi, i know how much it sucks not to be replied to so ill throw in my 2 cents...

being a student game... what is the polycount limit of this game... how far will this tank be from the camera (it looks like a unit from like a command and conquer style camera (far away small units...)

i think it could use more polys and more texture detail... painted on windows don't look as good in my opinion.

if the polycount allows id sink them in physically

it would also help to see what concepts you were working from... the form of the tank seems kinda umm primitive... if thats the word it is really random and undefined... what are those spikes on the front...

oh things to comment the cylinders you made the "missile racks" from and the gun barrels need to be spun... see picture for explination. also on the gun barrels for lowest detail and stilllooking round i find 5 sided cylinders "spun" do the best.... 4 or 3 sided spun just look weird... now straight... 4 sided look umm very square so they don't pass well for round barrels and what not... 3 sided (middle set of wings) look to sharp the best use of 3 sided are in my opinion for ropes or "pen line" width items (also in picture)also if you are going for round try to keep with odd number of faces (3, 5, 7, more than seven is just waisting poly's for ingame modeling unless very close up)3 works good for wires ropes stuff like that 5 works well for cylinders where the end faces are hidden, and 7 works well for when they can see the end of the cylinder. usine even numbers 4, 6 or 8 makes the breaks on the sides too even and the eye can pick those out very quickly.

oh also what is the polycount on it.

add some curve to the spikes... on the front... it seems that there are 3 spikes (look at the top view) and the other 2 are curved the middle ones being straight look kinda weird.

ok im done rambling for the night if you want i can write up a more comprehensive set of ideas on littke optical tricks for ultra low poly stuff.

I agree with Ebola on all accounts. Some texture detail would improve things significantly. But nice start, for sure.

Reminds me more of Decent and the little flying crafts. I'm not really seeing tank here.
Find a way to bulk it up.
