Hello there!

Well here is my question:

I've been doing some Mel's here and there and i'm becoming pretty proficient using it, how ever I were never able to find out how to "dock" the windows I made in to the the place where the channel box / layer editor is.

I was searching for help a while ago but then gave upp beacuse i found no evidence that Maya is able to do that. However I recently saw the "Mel for games" CD and saw a scripter showing off his script and he was able to make the channel box what ever he wanted.

since this was a video from 2001 every link and such was offline, so now that I have nowhere to turn I came here.

What do I need to do to make a Window dock into the place where the channelbox is placed?

there are mel scripts (i.e. layerEditor.mel) that come with maya that contain all the code that builds those UIs. It is tricky/annoying to edit them because there are a lot of dependancies between other scripts. You can also cause maya instability by messing about with those so edit them at your own risk- probably easier to edit things directly inside the default layouts rather then trying to edit the overall management fo the left channelbox/attribute editor area-

run a whatIs layerEditor.mel to find the location of the scripts for your particular maya install.
