Like m1NDfReAK said, is not necessary to optimize hands
and i Need some subdiv on fingers for animation :)
Vertex color is very powerful to make ambiance without ligth on object
is a good optimisation in engine to simulate ligthning
but you need to add some subdiv on model to create some shadow etc...
but it's very fun
and yes it looks like SSS on the skin :D
thanks guys for the comments

I think your cartoon guy and the cat came out very nicely, but this latest model needs some work.
While the concept does have a very well defined, straight jawline, it still appears quite feminine because of the overall curves and proportions, while the actual model looks a bit masculine because of the larger chin and overall facial structure.
When you want to make an attractive female, a cute baby or some sort of other character that's supposed to be cute and appealing, one of the things you should try to stay away from is hard lines except on places like the lips (and even then you have to be careful). I'd suggest flattening the bridge of the nose a little so you don't get those sharp shadows. She'll also look a bit more African that way because many African people have a slightly flatter bridge than most caucasians.
When you overlay the concept on top of your model, the only features that match are the eyebrows and everything around the face. The eyes, nose and mouth all need to be moved to look more like the concept.
I did a little paintover animation. I hope it's helpful:

The lighting is darker, you could contrast your lighting adding a diffuse top light on your vertex color.

Hey! Oca :D Nice texturing :buttrock: yes it looks like pretty good for Team Fortress 2
Sorry, i'd missed the final scaphandre and virtools viewing :p Great work on it. It can make a good character for a cartoon bioshock ;) or a new class on TF2 :p

Your work looks fantastic, your textures are crisp and clear, the detail really stands out. I don't know how some artists can make such low resolution texture work so sharp and awesome. What's your secret?
ocarian
11-04-2008, 12:43 PM
Thank Hoen and BakerCo :D
Kromano, there is no secret, just work :p
I worked on PS2 Game, so is a good training because You need to optimise your maps and model. (256 pixel max on this support )
My last (and first job) was a collaboration with a Frensh Studio.
On this studio there are a lot of excelent texturer so you must work to win a lot quality on texture. Good experience but I need more work :)

These models are all kick ass dude...I especially love the last model on the bottom with the female pirate... I still need to learn how to model human hands properly... rock on...
I had a pleasant chuckle when I saw the running pose for the diver. He's great!
I like the look of the props too, that washing machine has a Day of the Tentacle feel about it. Brilliant.
Looking forward to see the woman finished, there's already some great detail going into the texture and the modeling is shaping up nicely.

Very nice texturing! I especially like the clothing on that latest character. Just look out when mirroring highlights and shadows though, they can be very distracting when they're pointing in all kinds of directions.
Keep going :)

Looking good Ocarian!
Is texturing done? I see I few things which throw it off just a bit. The shading under her breasts is really strong. When you look the shading on her arms under the cuffs isn't as strong, nor is the shading on her legs. Seems like it needs to be adusted a little. Also, the shading on her belly button seems a little weird. Lastly, her face seems to need the.. laugh lines extending from the nose. I think they're called nasolabial lines. Something to punch up her cheeks a little bit more and add some depth.
Like, I said, it looks great even without the above changes. Just some food for thought. :)

Interesting reply blacker.
I agree with Arms, legs and belly. I ll make some changes this week end :)
I think the face stay like this.
