CGTalk - problems with curve snapping

Is there a secret to getting to have it snap. For me whehter I turn the curve snap option on by the menu button, or press the 'c' key while moving the cv it rarely actually snaps into place. I am hoping that there is somthing that I am doing wrong, because it would be so nice to have it work properly.
