Here is the second one of my never ending projects. (The first one is the Diablo)

I've mainly been focusing on the modeling, but recently I've been experimenting with some car paint materials and light settings. My computer is quite slow at the moment so I don't have any possibillity to do any advanced renderings.

Here are two test renders I made of the model. It's a WIP!

I would be glad if you would give some feedback, mainly on the model, but also I would like some tips how I can easily make better renderings/how I can improove the car material!

Here it goes:

Looks pretty good so far.:)

But..to get a good view could you post some additional views and angles.

About the lighting, it looks as though you are using default lighting. Also HDRI can help with the reflections and lighting.

What software are you using?

Thx for u'r reply! :bounce:

I'm using 3dsmax and it's rendered with default lighting. I'm not very formiliuar with HDRI?
Does it take alot more time to render with HDRI!
Where can i find tutorials on how to USE HDRI?

These were just quick testrenders mainly to show the car model, but also experimenting with materials.

I will post more pics when i come home.

Here is an older render from another angle just to show the model.

HDRI reflections are as quick to render as any image. It is slow if you use them for lighting the scene though.
You can get the light probes (hdri images) and some other thing you will need at www.debevec.org.

Also here is a car paint tutorial (for max).:)

i think it would look much better, if you change
the lightning and by tweaking the material!

and rework the frontlights!

2 different colored cubes doesn´t look so good...

Here is another testrender from another angle to show the car:

I'm wondering if I should make the edges on the wheelarc less sharp and not use smoothing groups to separate them, and then instead make more polys? If you understand what I mean?

What do you think?

Well.......is this intended to be low poly or high poly?

Also using your reference images you can decide what is best for the wheel archs, without looking directly at images.......I believe if memory serves me right they are sorta squared like you have them.

Looking pretty good in the last image.:)

HI!

Here is another small update! Progress is going quite slow... :(
I do this as a hobby so and it takes alot of time.

Anyways, I reworked the rims, and tyres. I also made an adjustment to the front bumper and the material. And I also adjusted the air intakes beheind the doors a little, but that's hardly noticable. (I detached it from the rest of the body and chamfered the edges on it.)

Here are two more.

One is with the Shilouette rims just with the reflections turned down.
I think they looked better without so much reflections.

Looking good so far.
Alot of polys but if it is not for realtime/game, who cares.:D

Could we see a back side render, from the tail lights just kinda curious to see something.

Looks nice! I wish I could go out to the driveway and compare it to the real thing ;).
