Hello,

It seems that i can't get my ambiance occlusion pass correctly comped in maya 8.5
the scene is very simple:
- a ground plane with a background shaded appplied to it
- a poly object sitting on that plane with a default lambert shader
- a blue environment color for the render cam (persp)

I've created one layer with mental ray occlusion preset and tweaked the values of the mib_amb_occulsion node.
In the render globals, i've deactivated the default light and enabled Final Gather

When I render separately and comp' both renders in photoshop it's fine, but when directly comped in maya, i've got these white spots close to the edges of the groud plane.
Any idea of how to solve this?

are you using 8.5 or 8.5SP1

thanks for your reply.

I'm using 8.5.
I haven't try SP1 yet. Do you think this is bug from maya?

I would start with that...

Ok, i've found the reason why i've had these artifacts. I've followed your advice Ash-Man and installed SP1, but it still rendered the same.

The reason was that my framebuffer was not setup correctly. By checking the alpha of my render I realised that it was probably a clipping issue, and it occured it was!
ColorClip was setup to the option Raw, which is not suitable for layered renders (or sort of).
Anyway, by turning back the option to its default value : RGB, it did the trick!

hope this will help someone else in the same situation.

cheers.
