View Full Version : snapping multiple UV selection
muckywetnoodle 05-04-2003, 10:39 PM Just wondering if there's a way to grid snap a group of UVs to the grid by the selection center instead of snapping all the UVs to a grid point. Coulda sworn I read a way to do this.

I'm guessing you are a Max guy who is now using Maya?? Anyway you can make a cluster and snap the cluster to the grid and then then delete the history on the mesh to freeze the transformation of the cluster.. not exactly as easy as you might like but these cammands could be rolled into a MEL script.

@gmask, are you sure it's possible to create a cluster out of UV's?
@muckywetnoodle: i don't have an answer for you but i think know what talking about. as of Maya 4.5 they've added 'retain component spacing' in the move tool options unfortunatly it's not applicable to UV's. i tried it but it doesn't work.
you might be in luck though. check out the Bonus Game mel script bundle on AW. i haven't used it myself yet but it includes these UV tools:
Align UV's | Grid UV's | Grab Paste UV's | UV Precision | Clamp UV's
>>> Bonus Tools <<< (http://www.aliaswavefront.com/en/Tmpl/Maya/html/index.jhtml?page=/en/Community/Download/plug_ins/maya_nt/bonus_game/bonus_game.html)
perhaps you find the right tool in that bundle.

Oops .. I read it as CV's ..wasn't paying attention.. I have no idea if a cluster would work for that or not..probably not.

gmask-Used to Mirai. ;)
mental-thanks! Yep, I have the game extras but couldn't find what I am looking for. That snap to grid thing seems to smush all the UVs within a square area. Kind of an odd feature.
